Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #32 (Theme: Bacon Nation) - 1st Entry: Bacon Checkers Sandwich Pie

Oh, dear bacon, you are so irresistible and we all know the struggle! The smell, the look, the taste. It just has it all. As good as a dish may be, the addition of it really takes it up a whole new level.

Whether it is on its own, in sandwiches, on top of waffles and glazed in maple syrup, or cut thick for the bacon lovers, it always puts a smile on faces. Therefore, I figured it is only time for me to experiment some bacon sandwiches for the bacon lovers out there!

My first entry of the week is this Bacon Checkers Sandwich Pie, which is super easy to make and super yummy.

Here are the ingredients:

• Cooked Potatoes, Kale, Cooked Bacon bites, Milk, Shredded Cheese, Pastry, Raw Bacon Strips, Eggs

Here are the steps:

• Mix the cooked bacon bites, mashed potatoes, kale, milk and shredded cheese together (I can eat this fillings on its own - yummy)
• Cut the pastry into two rectangular shapes, place one of them on the baking sheet and cut the other into a window like shape but save the inside piece and cut into four long stripes (see photos for details)
• Place the window shape pastry on top of the rectangular shape pastry
• Place the bacon fillings on top of the pastry
• Place the bacon stripes on top of the fillings
• Create the checker pattern using the four long pastry strips and bacon strips
• Bake in the oven at 400 for 30 minutes

The outcome is this ridiculously delicious bacon sandwich pie. Seriously, I am a very health conscious individual. However, you want to live life to the fullest and that includes enjoying bacon 'once in awhile'.
