Steemit Sandwich Contest Week #43 - Slow roasted Chicken and Salad Sandwich

Seems strange to be this side of a contest again - but looking forward to participating.

Recipe:

1 Crispy half size wholewheat french loaf
Chicken breast cooked in the slow cooker with turmeric and cayenne pepper
Salad consisting of:
Rocket, parsley and fennel for the greens
Tomato, cucumber, olives and feta cheese for colour and flavour
Spring onion and green pepper
Pink Himalayan Salt, and black pepper and balsamic vinegar
Origanum

I made the salad lovingly and set aside. Chicken cooked for 4 hours in a slow cooker - added a vegetable stock cube

Put this all together and made a most appetising and delicious sandwich to send to work with my son in the morning.

You may be wondering what my secret family heritage is - well mostly I can say its the origanum - a spice which goes on most Greek dishes and a spice I almost always use in my cooking.

The chicken was also prepared with cayenne pepper and turmeric both with amazing healing qualities.

I had a fall yesterday and both knees were cut open and bleeding. I immediately sprinkled a lot of the cayenne pepper on them which healed them so quickly acting as a cleansing and healing agent. It was miraculous to wake up in the morning with hardly any pain and both knees looking pretty good. I really love himalayan salt and when I heard it has 37 nutrients that just sold me on always using this salt in my dishes.

I've also heard and have been reading about the wonders of turmeric - even for cancer patients and so turmeric has also become an added spice whenever I can use it - so I make my rice yellow - my chicken looking good with some colour and I've even taken to drinking a tot of lemon juice, olive oil, turmeric and cayenne pepper every morning after being given the recipe by a good friend who is a doctor and has moved to Cyprus from South Africa.

Hope you enjoy my sandwich as much as I enjoyed making it - and as much as my son will enjoy it for lunch tomorrow

So cool to see food from the @cookwithus masters themselves! I'd inhale that sandwich so fast!

Why thank you @whattheduck - but I wouldn't stand a chance against you and our other incredible contestants - we have been blown away by the level of expertise shown by you and the others - and so proud of my fellow South Africans

It's amazing to see what everyone is putting up! Though I'm sure you'd be in the ranks with sarmies like these! South African's know how to up the ante!

Haha well done with being picked up by the whales on your latest post

looking delicious. thanks for recipe

Chicken cooked this way is really good @muhammad007

Heyyy! Very cool entry. Interesting to learn about those health benefits. Have you noticed any significant results from drinking that concoction every morning?

Also sorry to hear about your knees ;)

Diggin this slow cooked chicken Sandwich! Great choice veggies in there as well! Bam!

Had never heard of origanum!

Thanks @jaybird - yes, I'm definitely feeling better for taking the concoction albeit it only for 2 days so far. My knees are looking so much better as well. Thanks re compliments for my sandwich. Origano is the English name for origanum. Once you have used it you will love it. I hardly ever cook without it. I've followed you - see you're a songwriter and performer. My son and daughter are both songwriters too. You should have a songwriters competition sometime. I ran a Christmas song competition in December and it was so much fun

Oh right on. are they on Steemit? Do they know about Open Mic? or the Songwriter's Challenge?

I didn't know about your competition either :)

Yes, they are both on Steemit - and my other son as well. @edenmichelle @leelektrik and @deimus - Yes, Eden entered open-mic a few times and has done well - not won ever but came in with special mentions and I think she came third once. It would be good to have a smaller competition - open-mic has become too large now. Thanks for the vote on @cookwithus - we are enjoying our competition so much

Just listened to your EOS v Steem - very cool - you guys are epic

Oh your daughter is @edenmichelle! She's a wonderful songwriter and an excellent musician. I've really enjoyed some of her open mic submissions in the past. Her and her songwriting buddy too ~

Thanks @jaybird - she's coming to Cyprus next week. Can't wait to see her and nag her to put entries into open-mic again

Sounds like a healthy delicious sandwich!! I love slow cooked chicken- makes it so tender and absorbs all the delicious flavors cooked with it:)
Glad that your wounds healed so fast! I didnt know about the healing benefits that pepper had- thats new to me:)
Have a great delicious day @pandanama!🤗☄

Thanks @cooknbake - yes cayenne pepper is amazing - can be put on an open wound and has antiseptic qualities. The chicken was delicious. Have a great day too

This sandwich looks Great @pandamama! The chicken must be so tender from the slow cooker and full of flavor from the turmeric and cayenne. The cucumber adds a nice crunch and the herbs a wonderful aroma. The feta cheese rounds out the sandwich with a creamy and briny flavor. I would add a big pinch of chili flakes! but that is my personal preference for spicy foods! Thank you for sharing this sandwich!

Thanks @chefsteve for your comment - always so constructive - and chilli flakes sounds good - Lee also loves hot food

That chicken looks succulent. I can just imagine biting into that sandwich, crunching on the cucumbers, tasting the juicy tomatoes and the flavors of the oregano coming through with the salty feta cheese at the end. I would be ecstatic to find that in my lunch box. Thank you for all the info on the healing qualities of turmeric and cayenne. Great post @pandamama and good luck.

Thank you @loveself - you make me wish it was in my lunch box instead of Lee's haha. Will have to make one for myself now

Awesome to see some of our cookwithus team here on SSC, great sandwich! I'm amazed that cayenne pepper can be used for healing externally, have heard of the amazing benefits of that and turmeric when taken internally, will definitely remember! Good luck with the contest @pandamama :)

Thanks @lizelle - Congratulations on your entries both here and in cookwithus
