Steemit Sandwich Challenge Week 18. "The Panderer"

I've been with this sandwich competition since day one, before day one even, as I made a void entry before the competition had fully been fleshed out with rules, guidelines and the likes.

And yet for all my efforts, I have never taken top prize.

Sure, some might say it's because my sandwich game isn't on fleek, while others might say being a contributer to the prize pool disqualifies me from winning. But I started to look at the entries that have taken top spot in the last 17 weeks, the colours, flavours (I wish spell check would stop fighting me on those words🇨🇦) presentations, stories, textures... And at last I found a common bond that ties them together.

@jaybird has picked them all.

So I began to think, this handsome fellow who judges the competition every week is just a man, a hungry man, and everyone knows the way to a mans heart...

Flattery. Good ol' fashioned flattery.

But how does one flatter a legendary musician and cuisine maestro? Surely he can have no soft spot for having his beautiful curly locks commented upon, his lovely eyes would certainly see through anything too obvious. As I chiseled away at a way to subtly mention his chiseled jaw and great taste, I got hungry and made a sandwich. And I thought of all of @jaybird s creations and it hit me.

The best way to win the Steemit sandwich contest would be to make the best sandwich.

I grabbed some ingredients I'd never sandwiched in competion before, an English muffin, a pickled pepper and some Gruyere cheese

I went easy on the eggs, cause I know a certain someone likes his yolks runny, then put the cheese to melt

Then I busted out an avocado for my famous spread, cause a little birdy loves avocado

kind of the hue of Steemit, for better or worse

Perfect, a sure winner winner, chicken dinner. No way it's greatness could be denied a first prize... But wait...

I added a tiny dollop of red pepper jelly to seal the deal.

I know, I know what you're thinking. 2 sandwiches.

Well, I ate one, and put the other in the mail to @jaybird. I realize he only sees the sandwiches he must judge but never gets to taste them. It's like a gluttons food torture porn, always on the cusp, looking at @nomadics, @steemit-foodie, @owenwat s creations and never actually being able to taste them, to feel there warm flavours melt in his mouth. Hopefully it arrives by next Tuesday to still be in contention for this weeks prizes.
