Steemitphotochallenge #32: Honour Guard Trees, Entry #2steemCreated with Sketch.

I took this photo with my LG 3G cell phone camera in Cordoba, Spain. It is in the gardens of the Alcazar de los Reyes Christianos or the Castle of the Christian Monarchs. The castle's construction was started in 1328. It was used as the main headquarters for the Spanish Inquistion which began here in 1492 and lasted 300 years. The castle and its grounds looks beautifully serene now, but almost the whole castle was turned into torture chambers. This was the same castle where Queen Isabella and her husband Ferdinand met with Christopher Columbus before his first trip to the Americas. The statue at the end commemorates this.

I wonder how often they have to prune those trees, lol. That is some serious groundskeeping work required. But it sure has a serious look, fitting for the place. So much history!

They stay on top of these trees daily. We saw some being tended to, the day after a storm surge with high winds that blew some needles out of place. They were being brushed back into position and trimmed back if they wouldn't lay back down nicely to resume their perfect shape. A true labour of love for the arborists who care for them.
