Steemit Photo Challenge #41 - Landscapes II Entry
Entry 1 - Dramatic clouds in B/W from the top of Mt. Wakakusa overlooking Nara city in Japan.
Entry 2 - Dramatic clouds in colour on the opposite side of the same tree in the top photo.
Crepuscular rays is the proper name for the atmospheric phenomenon also known as "sunbeams", "angel lights", or "God Rays".
Entry 3 - More drama, this time provided by the stark contrast of the vermilion gates with their black bases and the stout trees surrounding the gates as they wind their way to the shrine at the top of the mountain.

Tech details: Cannon Kiss X5, Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle Lens, PP Lightroom.

Love the light rays. I rarely get them on a photo.
Yeah, it takes special conditions to get them at all: heavy/opaque clouds with gaps and enough light cloud/mist or dust to pick up and reflect the sunlight that does get through, then you need to be in position to take a photo too! I find it's easier to spot them in the late afternoon or evening. I was really fortunate that day!
