Sometimes it is just as interesting to photograph a photographer photographing!
Even more fun to do that at a cosplay festival!
Entry 1: Nikon vs Canon
Entry 2: Wall of photographers.
It's not the camera you want it's the camera you have, DSLR, Point and shoot, Cell phone, all take pictures!
There are so many people at this festival, you can't get a picture without people in the background, so it's best to make them a part of the photo. Use a wide aperture to give a bit more bokeh to the background and make your subject stand out!

Thanks, I was quite surprised to see the two of them on nearly the same costume but with different colors and with nearly the same camera, different brands.

Yes, the same festival. I wasn't able to go this year (today) but it's always a good time. Though extremely crowded!
