The name game- Jamethiel
I was challenged by @artemisnorth to explain my name.
The five commandments of the #steemitnamechallenge
1- Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
2- Tell us your real name!
3- If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
4- Use the tag #steemitnamechallenge so that the creator of the challenge can track all the posts and check them out
5- Nominate 5 people for this challenge
35 years ago I picked up a book by PC Hodgell called God Stalk at a used bookstore in Virginia. The main character was named Jamethiel and generally was a chaos attractor. At one point she tries to do a simple magic to cause bread to rise faster and it ends up growing rudimentary organs instead.
When the second book came out and the opening chapter has her accidentially setting a blizzard on fire in order to escape some bandits, I knew I was going to love this character.
The girl with a sword from the cover of the second book or the girl in blowing cloak from the back of the first book's hardcover edition have been my avatars since the internet began allowing avatars.
There are currently 6 books in the series and I love following her adventures as the author is among the most creative I have ever read. I Highly recommend the series.
The main character is growing up and into her abilities, and while magic is not a skill of hers, creating opportunities where there were none IS a skill. And I appreciate that in a good book.
2- My real name is Jennifer. There are a MILLION Jennifers in the world. I wanted a fairly unique name that started with a J so Jamethiel worked.
3- I wouldn't change it as it is unique enough. I used to use JenCat a lot but it was too common.
I nominate @lordvdr as I know him well enough that I am comfortable bothering him with this... since he is married to me! :)

Really enjoyed this post and I can see why you might use the name of the character in the book. I gotta check out these books - fantasy is one of my favorite genres : )
Hope you like the books! Thank you!
I'll look into this when I get a bit of time.

Haha! I follow @lordvdr, I didn't know you were connected! The books sound really interesting. I'm so boring, I mainly read noir and crime (on Sunday I heard a noir long-form poem), I must branch out. The characterisation sounded good.
If you like crime and Noir style writing, you might really enjoy Jim Butcher's Dresden Files series. It is very well written, has fantasy and magic in it And also has a lot of good plotting. Plus a wonderful sense of humor!
Thanks, I'll look out for him!
