The Steemit Name Challenge - @Fredrikaa
So, I got nominated by @howo to take on the Steemit Name Challenge. Shortly after, @suesa taunted me by adding that "nominating @fredrikaa is kind of pointless"...
Well, "3 hours later..." !
I'll shamelessly copy paste the rules from @howo's post, just like he shamelessly copy pasted the rules from @reggaemuffin's post (copyception right there!):
- Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
- Tell us your real name!
- If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
- Use the tag #steemitnamechallenge so that the creator of the challenge can track all the posts and check them out
- Nominate 5 people for this challenge
Tell us in a post how you chose the current Steemit username you have. The story behind it.
I have always been fond of public speaking and also always wanted to have my own blog where I could share my ideas, philosophies and participate in public debate. So for me, there was no interest in trying to remain anonymous. To the contrary, I hoped that as a new platform for social networks to be built, STEEM could be the place where I could reach my personal goals by establishing an early presence. I therefore wanted a name that was short and fairly easy to spell out, while also carrying my own identity. As I will have to say in point 2., my real name is Fredrik Aarrestad. Now, I know the surname is not easily pronounced or spelt correctly by most people. However, the majority will notice and remember what is uncommon in the name, namely the double aa. My STEEM account name is merely my first name plus the two first letters in my surname. Fredrik + aa = Fredrikaa!
My hope is that if STEEM grows as much as we all hope it will do, and I manage to keep on growing as a public speaker and communicator, that the name will be beneficial in terms of having people come across it. I imagine that people who want to look me up are most likely to search for "Fredrik aa....." into any search engine. Having a name that includes my first name and the unique "Aa" of my surname, is therefore something I see as 1. A name that is unique to me and who I am, and 2. A name that entails what people are the most likely to remember about my name.
Tell us your real name!
As has been on the blockchain since my introduction post, my full name is Fredrik Bendz Aarrestad. In Norway, people will by default inherit their mother's surname as their first surname, and their father's surname as their second surname. However, it is common that most people end up using only one name for simplicity. However, I am proud to be the one and only "Fredrik Bendz Aarrestad" in the world :).
If you could change your current username, which name would you choose and why? If you have a possible usernames list, mention it!
Perhaps I would spell out my name as fredrik.aarrestad. However, I like it to be short. I could also use my mother's name as a nickname which I have done on a few platforms and just use Bendz, which is easier to say and remember for most people. However, I am happy with my current name!
I would like to nominate @lemouth, @whatsup, @seablue, @acidyo and @valth!
So what do you think steemians? What was your first impression when you read my name?
Hi @Fredrikaa
I didn't know your last name, but I figured it has to start with AA :)
Funny this challenge here, and you managed well :)
Thanks! Perhaps I should have nominated you too ;)
The double A is quite unique to Norway I think with the Å, so might as well play on what stands out ^^
Yes, the double A is unique for Norway. I can't think of any other country that uses a double aa to pronounce a different sound
Hello @fredrikaa. My first impression of your name was just as you just wrote; you being named Fredrik Aa/Å. I think you were smart by going for your real name, especially if you intend to have a long-term "internet personality career".
Anyway, thanks for the nomination! I will do the challenge tomorrow :)
Best regards from @valth
Hehe, I guess it is easier to guess for other Norwegians :).
Looking forward to seeimg your entry ;)
It has come full circle. That is good!
I can just post the link to my already completed challenge. :-D

Done!
Haha, I considered adding at the end "most likely, most of whom will have already done the challenge. But I am too lazy to look that up now." :P
Well, I guess it means I won't be bothering as many who can't be troubled to do it ^^
You are probably the 5th one to nominate me... I guess I will have to do it... at some point :D
What he said!
You have toooo
Done :D
Yes ! Peer pressure at it's finest.
blablabla
I actually had a feeling that it was something to do with Fredrik and that the AA meant something. Wasn't sure if it was your middle and last initials, but I think it's clever that you're using the double-A from your last name as part of your marketing brand.
Cool to hear that it works somewhat ^^
your name if in our place sorry, it is for the title for women,
I know you when your name and @howo will join the london cryptocurrency show promo team by @stephenkendal, and I also write about your great work, hope you succeed in london later
Yes, it is a nice bonus as girls on average get more likes and followers than what guys do. So I thought if I chose a name that could be mistaken for a lady's and also chose a picture where I have relatively long hair. Then that could work to my advantage!
(joke).
It will be fun to meet in London :)
Thank, @fredikaa
Wow
I took that challenge too.
But how can one nominate someone to take a challenge?
your name is very cool and gives others easy to remember and the right choice when you connect your name with your mother. frankly I say you are very talented in determining something about your personality
"I'll shamelessly copy paste the rules from @howo's post, just like he shamelessly copy pasted the rules from @reggaemuffin's post (copyception right there!):"
Hahahaha
I always assumed that @Fredrikaa is your name (and I was almost right :) I admire that you’re fond of public speaking! I admit I never cared to remain anonymous either, but nearly 2 decades as a professional poet (whatever that means) & I still battle stage fright every time I’m asked to read in a public venue 😱
Thank you, for your support & I wish you continued success with your space adventures. It would be great, one day in the not too, too distant future to visit Norway! I almost made it to Sweden for a literary festival... 🤓
Cheers, from Sunny Florida ✌🏼 😎 🌞
