Steemit is a Game, Who's Playing?
Sure you've heard people saying that life's a game right? Perhaps brushed them off and returned to whatever you were thinking about it at the time? Really though, for a moment consider if the game is really happening. Are you the MVP or merely a spectator?
What am I on about today? Well after this mornings intense pow-wow in the mastermind about our steemit-issues. I jumped out the corner feeling energized and ready for a new round! 👊
What's the game here? Attention. We all play for it, we all choose our focus, direction and engagement. We ultimately pick our characters and then embark on the adventure of being constantly pulled through multitudes of levels. Sure sometimes it feels exhausting and may not seem so fun 🙇 Though who holds this perspective, who's really the controller? Feeling like a champ or feeling like a chump often reflects how much we are giving and receiving right? Let's not forget any idea of energetic scarcity is exactly that, an idea.
So on this platform where we're constantly watching our scores with votes and rewards. Our efforts are immutably displayed on record foreverrrr LOL! 😈 And I feel this can very quickly become a focal point, particularly for newbies. We then obsess about how well (or not) we are doing and there's always a troll or few to add their opinion. It's so easy to fall into unhelpful comparisons and be judgemental towards ourselves.
"People who say it cannot be done should not be interrupting those who are doing it."
After re-reading yesterday's long-winded effort, I'm attempting to condense my points.
Attention is currency, don't waste it.
Focus your time and energy intentionally.
Get in the game and just start posting!
That's why we're really on about gamification in @SMG 🎮 Making it fun and enjoyable to contribute is essential if we want to encourage each other to keep going. Many new users join Steemit with tons of excitement and energy, let's reinforce that and push them up with as much SP as we can so that others can see their potential! 🌟
It seems self-explanatory that the key to network effect is that we connect. If we as a community are to survive this bear market, we have to play the long game without focusing on the score 🐻 We have to play beyond the price of Steem, size of rewards and number of followers. We have to focus on what we have, and what we can do with common-unity and team work.
It's clearly a marathon, not a sprint and we don't have to run it alone. Whatever you're into, go find your tribe, build your team and support each other ✊ We have this great opportunity to play and win, simply by blogging and supporting each other. The only investment is time, consistency and a willingness to play for it's own sake.
What steem-y intentions have you set for today?
Keni 😄

Long game, exactly. My steem goals? To post something GOOD every day - best way to gather ooomph and experience and a steady, solid presence. To meaningfully comment on at least x2 posts per day in each of my 4 communities. And to support @nabithecat to find her steem legs. I follow x3 curation trails, resteem what feels great, and also resteem the SMG posts to the SMG account. It's working really well for me and this coming week I expect to hit 500SP. Wooooo Hoooo!!
Commenting is fine but POSTING is where it's at.
Great goals! ✊ Gathering oomph steady and solid, sounds familiar lol! I'm with you all the way on meaningfully commenting, also in addition to that I've noticed that commenting beyond our circle has to be mixed in too.
Otherwise we're all just drinking in the local every night. Which is great for relationship building but hey, we gotta get out on the town now and then to meet new friends right? 💃
I often think of @nabithecat and things she may be interested in.. well not just her but all the young masters. Whenever I'm around lang maw or playing at the bars, I see them spending so much time creating on the non-rewarding social media platforms..
Lol it's just finding a way to grab their attention. Still thinking.. 🤔
Congrats on 500SP btw!! 😃
I try to comment meaningfully beyond my "circles" every day. A couple in SMG. A couple in ecotrain. A couple in Natural medicine. A couple in TribeSteemUp. A couple in Freedomtribe. And a couple of random people I follow from my feed. I get new followers nearly every day. Slow, but steady.
That's playing for sure! You have that power-momma energy, I'd be exhausted. See you around and sincerely all the best. 👍
If the people in your feed and communities have common interests, it's actually a pleasure. Not like work, at all. Always leaves me with about 5 new things I also want to post about. :) Yes, you WILL see me around and it is all good. x Like my very first wise steem tutor once suggested, I just reallocate my time away from FB and traditional social media so it doesn't take "more time". I'm starting to learn steempress to make that work for me too. Baby steps compared to you but making headway.... and being strict with myself about where and how I give that time, cos I tend to overgive. Being selective is one of my self-care birthday gifts - stay tuned for that post on probably Sunday. :)
You're right. Very good.
"Comparisons are odious" - J. Lydgate or Shakespehere reminding us to appreciate our diversity. Great work @artemislives, self love is the first love.
I like how you describe steemit, in Italy we say " chi l ' ha dura la vince" it mean something like " who play hard and never give up will win" i think the ssme about steemit, if you give up you will not win if you believe in it you will win, we just need patience and maybe less spam contents :)
Ah yes I know a few Italians who love to play very hard lol! I agree, the patience is a practice for me. I suppose the overnight success and instant gratification programming is strong these days. I believe though, with our collective efforts we're building something special here.
Nice to meet you @leomilunastorta, I'll roll through and drop some love on your feed during my break today. Team work 👍
I like the way you think! Support is really important for everyone, buth the most people quit after there first month on steemit because they dont feel the support they need to share their time and knolledge with the community. Let's all stick together and work our ways up to a strong community and a stronger, more valuable crypto that meens something for us.
Truth right there @liketimmy, supporting each other is so important.. especially for newbies. The @smg are currently scratching our heads to come up with a way we can help. Nice to see you're back after a break too, let's keep posting!
Steemit is exactly like a game, in fact, it's based on game theory algorithms and the winners are those who play the long game. Consistency and engagement score big points.
Lucky we're all players then! Passion and engagement I got, consistency.. working on it LOL! Feels great to be off the bench though man, have fun at @steemfest! 💪
Lol what's that bitch's problem
I've come to learn, if you wanna be rich, in the monetary sense:
Invest and wait like hell
Start your own business and in it, you're going to have go through that stage where it's slow, tiring, demoralizing and crazy because you see fuck-all in progress.
The rich ones stay, no matter what.
Haha don't sweat it man, some love having issues. #hatersgonhate
I've come to learn that if you only wanna be rich in the monetary sense.. well then you'll be poor as fuck and I will find the compassion to avoid your ass LOL! 😝
time to troll the trolls
Haha good lookin out bro, don't waste too much energy though. Time is money honey LOL! 💅
