Collecting Birds Nest is an experience
Did you know that Birds Nest came from the birds spitting their saliva ?
Edible bird's nests are bird nests created by edible-nest swiftlets, Indian swiftlets, and other swiftlet using solidified saliva, which are harvested for human consumption. They are particularly prized in Chinese culture due to their rarity, and supposedly high nutritional value and exquisite flavour. Edible bird's nests are among the most expensive animal products consumed by humans, with nests being sold recently at prices up to about US$3,000 per pound , depending on grading.
The type or grading of bird's nest depends on the type of bird as well as the shape and color of the bird's nest. It is usually white in colour, but there also exists a red version, sometimes called ‘blood’ nest. The Chinese believe that it promotes good health, especially for the skin..The nests have been used in Chinese cooking for over 400 years, most often as bird's nest soup.
In my recent trip to the sub urban cities, I had the privilege to visit a bird nesting building. It’s very rare as usually no one is allowed to enter except for the person who is supposed to collect the birds nest
The next time, I’m being offered a bowl of birds nest, I’ll be sure to remember & appreciate the people who collects them but also the ones who cleans them up nicely for us to enjoy.
That’s why a piece of birds nest is so expensive & only the rich & famous can really enjoy it on a weekly or daily basis.

Couldn't afford it daily like you said, except once awhile can get a small bottle just for tasting.
it's indeed a luxury to enjoy occasionally
I used to eat some when I was younger and my mum worked at a company that made it! It was yummy!!

Wah!!! Lucky you. I was told that the people cleaning it up are paid wages of approximately RM 1,000 per day & it may be for only a few pieces only

Oh wow, yummers!
We have a popular soup here in our country called Nido soup. Made from the swallow's Silva and it is absolutely delicious. I believe they get nests from the sides of the mountains.
Wow !! This may be quite similar to what we have. But getting it from the mountain, that’s really tough & sound dangerous too.

I have seen it one time in a t.v.
They said its a delicacy, very nutritious and costly. Nature is amazing!
Yes, it truly is. Mother Nature does ensure that all living things contributed to the eco system of life.
