Does education ensure success in life?
There is a statement saying that education will not guarantee a person to achieve success.
Is that right?
We know, there are few successful people in this world have failed in their education. The figures are often told, for example, Steve Jobs, who left his studies when he was 19 years of success by founding Apple. Bill Gates also experienced a similar story. He left Harvard and successfully built Microsoft. Mark Zuckerberg also followed Gates steps out of Harvard, and then successfully founded Facebook. And other successful figures.
Of some figures above, school or higher education is not a guarantee for someone in achieving success. But we have to ask ourselves. Why can they succeed without taking formal education? Are their successes unrelated to education?
Now, let's change the question. How many people succeed when they finish their education in formal schools? Can you provide real data? I can not.
Well, my conclusion is that many things determine a person's success. If the school is not able to make your children to succeed, then do not assume that the school has failed in educating the students.
To be a successful person, then what is needed is a strong determination and high creativity. Smart kids, but if they do not have strong determination and creativity, not necessarily they will achieve success in life. I repeated the sentences in front of my students.
Then, is education (school) important for children in achieving success? Here are some of my views:
- Educational institutions can provide a source of knowledge for creative individuals and have strong determination. Individuals are free to choose certain skills they master, and educational institutions will guide them systematically.
- Educational institutions can train individuals to improve the discipline in their lives. Discipline is an important part of education.
- Educational institutions can also serve as social controls in which there are so many individuals with different backgrounds there. This is where the process of social interaction takes place.
- Educational institutions also train individuals to be able to think logically within the framework of scientific thinking.
Well, let us return to the goals of each individual. What kind of success do they want to achieve? Do these individuals have strong determination? And others. For me, school or education is one of the processes to achieve success in life.[]

after reading your post, I am reminded of my own experience. My background is electrical engineering. but I am not successful in a job that suits my education. now I even get a job in the field of agricultural facilities distribution.

Setuju Bang @teukumukhlis. Pendidikan atau lembaga pendidikan bagian tak terpisahkan untuk menjemput cita-cita mereka dan kita. Di sana kita belajar cara menemukan dan menjemput cita-cita, meskipun di luar lembaga pendidikan, mereka dan kita dihadapkan dengan kondisi yang terkadang dapat melumpuhkan roda cita-cita mereka dan kita. hehehe

For me, education is the most essensial thing in our life, its like we need oxigen to survive in life, education should never be apart from life.
I thinks, everyone has their own interest in their life, you dont have to take higher education, its a choice, but we can learn by everything in life, and from everyone, even with your children or your students as well. Sometimes our student has better knowledge than us. In my conclusion, never stop learning, till the end of our life. Thanks guree@teukumukhlis. You taught me a lot.
Nice post! I definitely think you need to constantly keep learning. Once you stop, then you limit growth potential. I love learning and also am motivated to keep learning since it carries me further in my career. I've experienced how things are when you stop learning and get content with your surroundings. You will lose against the competition. You won't keep advancing if that's your goal. Overall, there has to be a motivation for more success to drive you. If some people are content where they are at and that's success to them, hey to each their own! :) Nice post.
