Two tiny eyes, one wagging little tail. Welcome to the world Charlie! This “kid” made his way into the universe with 8 other siblings. Sadly, only seven survived, Charlie’s dog-mom had a nasty tendency of lying on her pups and well, let’s say, she smothered a few with love. A sad start for the litter but not an uncommon occurrence when new pups are born, all part of nature I guess. Charlie, he’s meant to be!

Charlie got to know his doggy mom and doggy dad. He learned how to be a puppy. Eight weeks passed, quite uneventfully. But then one-day, while frolicking on the grass with his brothers and sisters, his little world, as he knew it, changed. We came for him.

It all happened quite suddenly. One moment he was wrestling with his younger brother, the next he was lunged into the air by a pair of unfamiliar hands. He was then bombarded with kisses – he felt quite overwhelmed. He wasn’t too sure what to make of the moment. He both enjoyed the attention, but felt a bit fragile and uncertain. 

And then. They started walking, away, with him. Where was he going? What about his furry family! “Where are they taking me”, his little mind wondered with panic. Charlie was then placed on to the lap of a tiny human, who was sitting at the back of some sort of moving machine. While the lap brought some comfort, Charlie wanted his mom! This is a dog’s life, he was told.

The big moving machine took him to a place unknown, surrounded by humans who seemed nice, but he felt uncomfortable with these strangers. Where were his brothers and sisters? The new humans fed him, cuddled him and called him their own. Was he theirs now? Says who?

Days passed. While Charlie still missed his old family, especially his furry relatives, he grew used to his surroundings. He started to love his people and he felt at home. He discovered new objects (most of which were pleasingly chewy) and he realised that his new owners adored him, they absolutely loved him! This made Charlie feel quite smug and eased the transition.

Charlie is happy now. He has a family of his own, a forever family. With this happy thought in mind, Charlie wags his tail – he is ready for some adventures!
