The Adventures of Charlie: Chapter 3 (Charlie Goes Gallivanting)

in #steemiteducation6 years ago

The best thing about having a new home is that there is so much to explore! Charlie is thrilled with the fact that he has his very own garden with lush green grass to roll in. There are flower beds to dig in too – next stop, China! But while this puppy loves his garden, through a jagged little fence he spots a bigger and wider world. The little guy is curious!

It was a great day when his new humans took him for a walk into the sights he had been staring at longingly. He wasn’t too impressed with the piece of rope they hooked on to his already itching collar however, but it is a dog’s life after all. Charlie made it up the staircase all on his own and WHOA! He didn’t know where to look or sniff first! There was so much to see, there was so much to smell, there was so much to pee on!

Charlie wandered along the road. He tried his hardest not to get tangled up in the bushes, but that damn rope wasn’t playing along! As he tried to run faster he was yanked back, he let out a growl-like yelp to make sure the humans knew he was not impressed. All-in-all he had a good time strolling around the neighborhood though, he even met a few potential furry mates – could get up to some good mischief with them!

One day however, while his human mom cleaned around the house and paid him no attention whatsoever, he decided it was time for his very own independent gallivant! He mustered up the courage and while his mom wasn’t looking, he slipped out the door and dashed (or more like hopped) up the stairs one by one.

Little did this sneaky puppy know that he left his home in a state of panic. His mother went berserk with worry when she couldn’t find him. She immediately notified the neighbours to keep a look out for him as she darted out the door calling him frantically. Charlie heard her, but didn’t know what all the fuss was about!

Charlie was spotted very quickly. He had stumbled upon an open trash can and he simply couldn’t resist the bounty that spilled out in front of him. His mom found him chewing on an old bone, as casual and carefree as could be. Charlie didn’t have a worry in the world. At first he was scolded, but he didn’t know what the big palaver was all about! He was the smothered with kisses and was given the tightest hug he had yet received.

The result? Charlie’s home is now puppy-proofed in every way imaginable, he now lives in fort-Knox, great! The only way Charlie gets to explore the outside world is when he is pulled around on his leash (he found out what the dumb rope thing is called). No freedom at all for Charlie! His mom did say though that when he is a big boy, she MIGHT let him walk freely, if he listens to her call. As big as Charlie’s ears are – hmm, they are not very good at listening!

This is a chapter about the adventures of Charlie. We brought this little Basset pup home over Christmas and we are so deeply in love with him! Read more about Charlie here:
