There are numerous problems plaguing our nation's education sector in particular today, from elementary to higher education, the standard is plummeting daily, and our morals are crumbling drastically in a geometric proportion. It is necessary for us to examine the cause(s) of our mess if we are to find any way out of them. Having taken interest in this sector for a while, i took it upon myself to try and contribute to solving this problem by coming here on steemit to alert people about the things happening in my country to try and garner attention and see if people could help my dear nation in anyway, since i am also a student of this system. Change has to start from me.
For the past few months, I have been visiting various primary schools in Nigeria. I will implore that you also check out primary schools in Nigeria and see for yourself what I saw, for what I experienced during my visit to those schools is what I cannot possibly share without lamenting.

That is just a part of our issues.
The government in power right now, in the person of Muhammadu Buhari is making issues worse.

Instead of him to go up and create better policies to favour our dear nation's education so we could get children that will better our nation in coming years.
He went on international TV and called our youth 'LAZY!'
President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday april 2018 criticised the attitude of some our Nigerian youth, saying they were only hustling to get on the gravy train.

“More than 60 per cent of the population is below 30, a lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free,”

Mr Buhari was quoted as saying by The Cable during a panel appearance with world leaders at the Commonwealth Business Forum in London.
The president’s comment really adds to an earlier one he made this year criticising the Nigerian youth.
During a February 2016 interview with the UK Telegraph, president Buhari said some Nigerians in the UK, mostly youth, are disposed to criminality and should not be granted asylum there.

WHAT A THING TO SAY?!

He was fiercely criticised by the public for the comment, with many saying it failed to convey the reality of Nigerian youth’s exploits. Buhari at this point may be considered a hypocrite!
Early this year, an analysis by Rice University in the U.S. showed that Nigerian youth are the most educated of all migrants in the entire country. The institution credited the finding to a culture of relentless drive for education amongst Nigerians. And this drive is in a system where the education facilities are all dead and degrading!
Only on Tuesday, the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo was in Lagos to meet young innovators at Andela and the larger tech community in Yaba. The hub is driven by young innovators and entrepreneurs and is widely seen as a manifestation of their entrepreneur zeal. This is the real definition of a nigerian youth. WE ARE READY TO EXCEL!

Mr Osinbajo had also witnessed Nigerian youth’s quest for gainful employment in the way they embraced the administration’s N-power programme which paid as low as N30,000 a month for teaching jobs. And many of them are graduates in professional courses like engineering, but because of no jobs, they have to teach.
Presidential spokespersons Femi Adesina and Garba Shehu did not respond to PREMIUM TIMES’ requests for their comments about whether the president was aware of Mr Osinbajo’s efforts and the statistics by foreign institutions on young Nigerians. I dont think he is.
Several commentators online slammed the president for his latest remarks while others defended him.
Back to our educational problem,
The way to aid nigeria's educational problem.
The government is the number one solution, they have to be actively involved in the matters of education in the country!.

TO suspend all sandwich and distance-learning teachers training programmes since this is the hotbed for training mediocre teachers. The third is on teachers’ recruitment.
Only properly trained and certificated teachers holding Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) should be recruited; lastly is to punish those that are treating teachers unfairly,’’ he said.

The 9th Convocation of Crawford University has 230 graduates and 40 Postgraduates.
