5TH GRADE MATH - PLACE VALUE TO THOUSANDTHS "Decimal Place Values"
Place Value to Thousandths
In this post we will explore place value to Thousandths. Kids in grade five should know the following about the decimals;
- 5 is same as 5.0; similarly 1 = 1.0; 2 = 2.0; 3 = 3.0 and all the other whole numbers.
- 5.1 is read as Five and One Tenths (So first decimal place starts with TENTHS)
- 5.11 is read as Five and Eleven Hundredths (Or Five and One Tenths One Hundredths)
- 5.111 is read as Five and One Hundred Eleven Thousandths (Or Five and One Tenths One Hundredths One Thousandths)
- 5,202,793.05 is read as Five Millions Two-hundred-two Thousands Seven Hundred Ninety Three and Five Hundredths.
