4TH GRADE MATH - PRIME FACTORIZATION
Finding the Prime Factors of a Given Number Using Tree Diagrams
We know that 2, 3, 5, 7 and 11 are the first five prime numbers. Now we will learn to write a given number as the product of these prime numbers which is also known as prime factorization.
For example; 4 we can write its prime factorization as shown below;
- 4 = 2 x 2
We have only prime numbers (both 2's) in the factorization and hence it is known as prime factorization.
Let's do two more examples; Write Prime Factorization of 6 and 10
- 6 = 2 x 3
- 10 = 2 x 5
Below is the activity sheet on the concept I prepared which can be printed on 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper by right clicking on it;
PRIME COIN
So, only two factors are 1 and this coin itself!!
