What Steps Should You Take To Nurture The Personality Of A Hyper Active Child

Are you a parent to who you feel is perhaps a hyperactive child? Well, first of all, relax, your children are a gift to you and as difficult as they may seem, they are in fact a blessing. Embrace the personalities of your children, even if they are extremely spirited, in the long run, this characteristic is wonderful to have! Do not think you have failed as a parent if you feel you cannot control your children, instead, relook at your situation (and environment) and make a few changes. I will discuss some of these changes/guidelines below.

Hyper active children tend to be quite independent in nature, they are also usually very strong-willed and determined little people. These are excellent traits to have, but difficult to deal with when children are young and do not have much control and understanding over their actions.

What Steps Should You Take To Nurture The Personality Of A Hyper Active Child?

First and foremost, you need to keep yourself calm, and set the example. Not only do kids feed off of our emotions, but they imitate us too. So, if you are relaxed and moving at an even pace, you are likely to encourage your child to do so too. And, if you slow down to take notice of things, your child will eventually observe this behaviour and hopefully mimic it.

Secondly, you need to work on the home environment (and as many other environments as you can) in the same manner, that is, creating a calm and relaxed atmosphere. Eliminate brightly coloured objects, instead opt for objects that have light neutral tones. Keep toys to the minimum (store most of them away, bringing out only a few at a time for your child to play with). Your child’s room especially, should be a safe and quiet haven that oozes relaxation, instead of over-stimulation.

With the environment in mind, very busy kids tend to be more daring, so make sure your furniture and ornaments are safely arranged, so that your child does not get hurt if they decided to start jumping from your household goods!

Last, but not least, give your spirited child the opportunity to burn energy and to challenge him or herself. Trips to the park or an open field where kids can run and play ball games are excellent ways to burn energy, without overstimulating them and adding to the hyper activity. This way, when it is time to go home, your child is more likely to want to rest and focus on more calm activities.

Being a good parent is not always easy and we tend to be too hard on ourselves, especially when we have hard-headed kids who do not tend to listen to demands and instructions very easily. But, if you lay solid foundations, like working on your own patience and relaxation as well as that of your surrounding environment, then it will be much easier to take on other challenging tasks that child-rearing often throws at us.

I have two kids that you would consider hyper. They are actually diagnosed as ADHD. As a parent, it is so important to create routine and structure for these kids. They are often too busy or distracted to focus on plans or schedules. They also need to be able to burn off some energy through the day. Keeping them active helps with the attention. Diet can also be a factor as well.

thank you, your child must be cute. I also have a hyper-active boy. the sign is true, his motion is very helpful to make it grow fast. consequently he runs faster than his fat peers.

your posts are very good, and I agree to support our parents

Awesome post @hubbi, well done!

Thank you, i learn too much from you.
