By getting your children use to a routine during school time, you will make all the house work easier on yourself.

This will also teach them structure and a sense of responsibility. Let's have a look at a night time routine first, it will be easier to start them off with this one first as you don't want to try and get a young one into something new early in the morning. The times I am using might be different in different households, adjust the times to suit your daily routine best.

18:30 - Dinner Time

After dinner, let the children take their own plates to the kitchen and if they are old enough let them help you tidy up. Having chores creates a sense of responsibility and teaches them to be independent.

19:15 - Bath time

Let your children clean up the bathroom once they are done, dry the floor, hang up the towels, rinse the bath etc. Once again teaching them to tidy up after themselves. This is an important lesson, especially when your child goes to visit his friends and maybe sleep over.

19:45 - Prep time

Make a small list for them on how to take out their own clothes for the next day and make sure that their school shoes are clean.

20:00 - Bedtime story

Incorporate a short bedtime story before their bed time. Try to end off their day with happy thoughts and positive energy.

20:15 - Time for bed

As we know, this might be a struggle at times, but if you calm them and let them lay in for a while before they actually have to sleep this will make the sleeping part of bedtime so much easier.

The sooner you try and get your children in some sort of routine, the sooner you will see a change in the overall enthusiasm levels in your home. In the next two posts to come, I will discuss morning and afternoon routine.

Love these tips and very helpful for a mother.
Kids must be encouraged to be responsible for their own chores at young age.
And yes, following a routine makes parenting much stressful and saves you from going crazy. Kids also stay calm when they follow a certain routine as they are subconsciously ready for the next thing to come. They become used to it and don't get a surprise every new times when they are made to sleep or do something against their will.
I have followed this routine pattern in my parenting and thank God I don't go crazy anymore.
Thanks for sharing these tips

Thank you for the feedback and your insights, I couldn't have said it better myself. Keep on doing the great work you are as a mother! :)

This is a wonderful routine to use as a guideline. Although my son is currently only 3 and is homeschool, it is nice to have a guideline set to help things run smoothly in the home. Appreciate you sharing these wonderful tips and I thought the illustrations were really cute as well.

Thanks for the great response and keep posted for the next two posts that gives guidelines on morning and afternoon routines :)
