During your early years as a teacher, I guess that you’re both nervous and excited. These are the moments when you feel that you are born to be in the field of teaching. Each day, you are very enthusiastic to greet your students and co-teachers as well. When you’re at home, you are still busy doing school works. You only get less than four hours of sleep because of your extraordinary dedication in giving your best performance. The burning flame inside of you is slowly vanishing without even noticing it. Instead of inspiring other people the way you are expecting it, you became exhausted until it drained your energy. The eagerness to teach is fading; you even dislike the idea of entering your own classroom thinking that it is the source of your stress. Trying to give your genuine smile is hard and seems impossible to do.
Too much of anything will lead to a complete chaos. It will make your mind vulnerable to negative thoughts that can downgrade your confidence. If you are experiencing some of these events, don’t feel bad because you are not alone. You are just a human so it is normal to be emotional sometimes but ensure that you can still fix yourself in the end. There’s nothing wrong to give your 100% for the love of teaching which in fact a clear evidence of your full commitment; just never forget to love yourself first. You must be an educator that can bring sunshine and productive outcomes. Once you are having a radiant and positive life, you will be more effective in touching the lives of the people around you.

Take good care of your health.
When you are sick, it will make you feel weak and less efficient. If you don’t like going to the gym, you can watch different tutorials of simple exercises that will be suitable for you. Jogging and walking in the park will not only promote a healthy lifestyle, it is also a form of releasing yourself from any stress. Breathing the fresh air in the morning will give you a more relaxed feeling and peace of mind. You must also have a balanced diet and the sufficient hours of sleep. You don’t want to find yourself suffering from serious illnesses and in the worst cases, death.

File a vacation leave when needed.
What is the use of perfect attendance if you are unhappy? You are working almost every day so don’t deprive yourself of having some fun. If you are a nature lover, you can either go hiking or enjoy the fine sands and waves on the beach. Spending your money moderately is good specially if you are investing it to collect unforgettable memories. Life is too short to limit yourself to just work in the whole year, unleash your adventurous personality and never be afraid to explore places. You can even teach your travel stories to your students.

Do nothing and be lazy for a day.
Forget about your laundry, paper works, and other things that will make you busy. Have you tried to stay in your bed while listening to music? You can even close your eyes to feel the lyrics. Move away from any social media such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Stop checking your e-mails and text messages for a couple of hours. These technological advancements can give instant entertainment but it can also bring stress. Aside from radiation that can damage your eyes, you can also read bad articles and sad news that can ruin your day ahead.

Have quality time with family and friends.
You are not only a teacher; it is just one of your many roles in life. Just imagine, you are giving most of your attention with other students but how about your own children? When is the last time that you surprised your partner? Are you planning to visit your parents that haven’t seen you since last year? Have you ever heard that your former classmates are organizing a reunion next month? Take every opportunity that you can get and make the best out of it. Show them your love before everything is too late, regret has no power to bring back the past.

Talk to God and He will comfort you.
The steps listed above are all nothing if you don’t include the Lord in your life. He is the way to find true happiness, He is the happiness. If you are mad and confused, pray for the wisdom to overcome it. When you are scared and want to give up, go to Him and ask for the strength that you need to move forward. Praying is not only for saying your worries, it is also a medium to say your deepest gratitude for all the blessings that you are receiving. God can hear and see the desires of your heart even before you ask for it. His love is the greatest and purest in the world.
Teaching can be enjoyable if you are sincerely happy from the inside. It doesn’t mean that you will be free from any problems, but it will make you wise in thinking about your actions. It will strengthen your stamina in dealing with hard situations. Don’t just go to school and work, you must also learn to expand your circle of friends and appreciate the small things. If you are happy, all other things will flow smoothly. Will happiness put everything in their perfect places? No, it will not. Happiness is not there to make the details perfect; it is there to help you accept the flaws. You will have a brighter outlook and perception even if you are walking in a rocky road.
You are both a teacher and human as well. Allowing yourself to unwind in beautiful spots is not selfishness; it is just a reminder that every hard work must be rewarded. Working without giving yourself a break will poison your mind and your body. Do the things that will make you happy because you deserve it. The students can recognize if you are not in the right mood to teach and you don’t want to be remembered as someone with a cold heart. Happiness is contagious, make it pandemic!





I wish I can do all what you have suggested @escuetapamela however the sad reality stay that teachers are facing an overload of works like ancillary task and other extra works that drain the very fire of teaching! Health is wealth; we should not abuse our body. If we don't have the time to travel different places, a simple relaxing at home is indeed a great help.
Eat healthy foods, drink plenty to keep us hydrated, do simple exercises, and have enough sleep as much as we can. :)

galing ng baby Pam ko! My mother is a retired teacher and during her time I know how hard it was for her to have multi-tasking job. As a teacher mother and father to us kids as my father was always on trip due to his job as well. She has no rest even on weekends...The only reward that she has for herself is when we, kids are in good health and having vacations to our grandparents during summer :(.. Excellent recommendations @escuetapamela, I have known many professionals so not only teachers and the eagerness of the first years, it leads to a stress that will soon end in illness and therefore the abandonment of the load or disability.
You are right, we must take care of ourselves in order to perform better.
We should rest for a while if we are feeling tired and exhausted. :)
Happiness is obtained in part with what you describe in your publication. It helps a lot those activities that practically restart us, apart it should also be considered that what we do as teachers has to like us. Teaching is not easy, but the satisfaction of our students' achievement is very rewarding.
And additionally if with the gratification received we can satisfy our needs is one more reason to keep us happy.
