STEEMIT CULINARY CHALLENGE #39 : Baby Food never looked so good and tasty before...

DSC_0116.JPG

Hello beautiful people of the lovely world of Steemit!

Steemit Culinary Challenge is back after one week off and as usual I am so glad to participate in it again! You guessed it right, today's post is my entry for the Steemit Culinary Challenge week 39!

For this week's theme, Baby Food I really had a hard time coming up with something! Yes I know I am a parent but infact all foods for my daughter are cooked by my wife!

So for this challenge, I had a long talk with both my wife and daughter and gathered the fruits and veggies my little one really loves the most! With these products in hand I was ready to create my dish!

Let's discover it together with me!

As usual the post will be rather long as I want to give all details of the dish so that you can try it easily too if you wish!

Baby Food never looked so good and tasty before!!!

The first list of ingredients needed will be for making the green vegetables cream :

Watercress
Lettuces
Potato
Zucchini
Bottle Gourd
DSC_0091.JPG

Simply boil the potato, zucchini and bottle gourd in little water and season slightly with salt.
Add the watercress and lettuces when the above are nearly cooked.

Cook for 2 minutes more till you have the below result! Don't overcook or else you will lose the nice green color.

Blend it till you get a smooth cream.
Check the seasoning and reserve.

The next list of ingredients is to make a semolina and coconut soft pudding and caramelized banana :

Banana
Butter
Semolina
Coconut powder
Sultanas
Dates
Honey
Milk

Put the milk to boil and add the semolina, coconut powder, chopped sultanas and dates.
Cook till a smooth texture then add the honey as seasoning.
Reserve.

Last step is to make the caramelized banana!
Simply heat a pan and add the butter.
Put delicately the banana cut in round and let it caramelize on both sides.

So here we are with all the prep work!
Next is to plate and make these attractive for the baby!
I re-arranged the banana in it's own peel.

And the soft pudding in a white bowl!

I used a lot of my daughter's toys to make it more fun and she was so happy and these little touches really attracted her to eat all the food.
Do try it too and you will see the difference!

This is very healthy and visually appealing baby food! Watercress! I'm really impressed with your child's tastes in food. Your child must be very healthy! Good job.

My daughter is really very weird sometime on her food likes! But i'm happy she loves these healthy products! Sometimes for the whole day she eats only cherry tomatoes, would you believe it!?

Cut banana in a shape of banana :) nice idea.

Hahaha! Nice one my friend!
Have a lovely day ahead!

Each of our three kids (age 8, 4, and 2), would devour this. You are brilliant, you know. From your green vegetable cream to your caramelized bananas presented on the peel... So artful. For us, we almost have to make our greens artful in order for the kids to eat them. You make it look so simple. And yummy!

Oh wow 3 kids that's wonderful! I have 1 daughter only!
You can see her on the other posts!
I really love bringing any food to a refined level to make it firstly attractive and of course the taste must follow too.
Thanks so much for such a great compliment!
@progressivechef

Yes, attractiveness is a must in our household, at the moment. We notice the kids refuse to eat mushrooms and other brown foods at times. They seem hesitant with greens too, unfortunately. We crave the day when the kids will eat our green and gray smoothies, as well as the more delicious-looking red and purple ones. :)

@wildfamily

That looks like gourmet baby food @progressivechef! Well done, awesome job! And you weren't sure you would be able to create something for the challenge. ;)

I was really not sure to come up with something @alinalisa, but now happy that i am getting such positive comments!
Thanks so much for the compliment my friend!

Mmmmm if I was a baby I'd be drooling right now :-) Nutritious, attractive, a good assortment of textures and no doubt smells great too (banana is one of my favourite smells). Caramelising it is a great idea, for both flavour and texture too, as even this slightly different way of preparing an ingredient can make a big difference whether baby will try or even like the food item. I bet it those banana slices compliment the soft pudding really well too.

I love the ingredients in the green cream too - though one word of warning to people unfamiliar with bottle gourd is that a taste test is really important because it can be deadly poisonous due to its toxic compounds within. Each end of this vegetable should be tasted, and if it's at all bitter it should not be consumed but discarded completely. But aside from that, it is a really nutritious plant!

You're absolutely right when you say using toys to make food more appealing is very effective! I love the way you arranged the banana back in its skin, and all the colourful bowls... If I was an infant I would be bouncing in my high chair ha ha! Good luck @progressivechef

Thanks so much @woman-onthe-wing for enjoying the dish! I really appreciate your comments on the bottle gourd , we really need to taste it before cooking them!
I'm so glad to have been able to make something really good for the babies and adults as well!
Cheers
@progressivechef

Do I need to be a baby to eat this? :-D Nice and beautiful entry my friend! :-)

Hahaha! Of course you can have it too my friend!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Really appreciate your support!
