The first Steemit Crypto Challenge is running and so far, everyone is doing great!
Here's a summary of what's going on so far .

The Steemit Crypto Challenge #1

The first clue concealed in the cover image is on the bottom right. Using image manipulation software i.e. Photoshop, reveals this hint.

Now the bin is coming into play. This is a hint to pastebin.com. Using the code from the cover imagine you will find http://pastebin.com/B6Pm52ts

@raymonjohnstone Congratulations on uncovering a hint! Stand by for a prize!

In the comments to the video you will see the next hint. Nh5LTQ2x

@rznag found out that this again is a pastebin with the following message:

Again, well done!
I wonder where you got to know from me.
Things will get complicated now

Write me an Email with the codeword and you will get the final task:

²×žš+\¯*m¡ÈZ–W§æ‚Š •éšŠWhµÊ&

Caesar Cipher

The Caesar cipher is another example of Roman ingenuity. First described by the Roman historian Suetonius, it was used by Julius Caesar to communicate secretly with his army: If he had anything confidential to say, he wrote it in cipher, that is, by so changing the order of the letters of the alphabet, that not a word could be made out. If anyone wishes to decipher these, and get at their meaning, he must substitute the fourth letter of the alphabet, namely D, for A, and so with the others."  Suetonius, Life of Julius Caesar

becomes

YOU WILL ALWAYS FIND ME IN THE PAST I CAN BE CREATED IN THE PRESENT BUT THE FUTURE CAN NEVER TAINT ME WHAT AM I

The correct answer here? History.

Currently the Steem Crypto Taskforce is working on solving the following Cipher:

²×žš+\¯*m¡ÈZ–W§æ‚Š •éšŠWhµÊ&

Which results in an email address.

10 SBD goes to @rznag and @raymonjohnstone for uncovering hints. Another 5 SBD to @renzoarg for this creative masterpiece. Made me chuckle:

There is much to decipher.
The challenge is not finished.
All submissions are due by Monday August, 22 @ 6pm (UTC -4).

Good Luck and Happy Hunting, Cryptos.
Do you have any suggestions how to decipher the last code?

pastebin.com/Nh5LTQ2x

You might have a typo since your URL says %EF%BB%BF

I see but this is done automatically when i enter pastebin.com/Nh5LTQ2x

Please continue with this! Seriously amazing.

Hey Veralynn,

thank you for the kind words. The second Steemit Crypto Challenge is in preparation as it will be bigger this time. It will involve many different skills. I learned from the First Challenge and going to improve the next one.
What I can you so far is that the start of the next challenge will be more easy in order to get more people into the boat. The further they dig the harder it will be.
Teamwork will be required. I really think Steemit is a place where people come together

Yours,
Tim Said

Tim, I HATE YOU

You owe me several hours of my life, and also the payment for the work of my Neurons (they don't work for free, you know? They are feeding on Lactate right now instead of Glucose!).

Lactate? Sounds painful!

This was lots of fun! Hopefully someone finds the last clue!

@timsaid How wrong am I by thinking that you didn't really encrypt ²×žš+\¯*m¡ÈZ–W§æ‚Š •éšŠWhµÊ&, but that you rather created some sort of text file with the email address in there. Then you opened the text file in a text editor that doesn't support the file type and took the part that replaced the email address?

Because the code just really looks like the garbage you get when you open unsupported file types in notepad.

The challenge has been finished today and the winner will be announced later. And you are wrong.
