We might do this bi-weekly, or change the date and times. I will put out a post, before each podcast, to survey the community for questions or topics they want to bring up in the podcast. I will also announce the date and time of the upcoming podcast.

Thank you for tuning in! Until next time :)

Come over to the Discord server in the meantime if you want, and help start a new conversation :)

Listening right now. Would be good to know who else is part of this discussion I'm not sure who I'm listening to right now :)

Hehe, yeah you would have to associate the voice with names in the chat to familiarize yourself. Next time maybe you'll join hehe

I'd like to :)

But I mean I can't see the chat I was thinking maybe you could link the names of the people who took part in the post. But it did get mentioned in the podcast who's listening.

I enjoyed the convo when I was there . Good job!

Thanks for being there. See you next time as well!

Great point made by @krnel here. Good or bad, Steem is not "an attention economy".

That whole monologue by @krnel was an eye opener for me. I feel privileged to have had that sideline position to listen in on the dialogue. I think with exceptional thinking like that and the clarity of vision that involves, the podcast has the potential to become very influential.

Wow, thanks for such feedback. I will continue to try to raise the bar and get other to people to do the same :) We can make make Steemit succeed, but it depends on the community making it happen. People going against the best interest of Steemit's success are going against us, and more people need to become aware of this. More friction and conflict ahead.

It is not yet an attention market, by steemIT and any other gateways to the steem blockchain are absolutely attention economies because they survive on our attention. Our attention is valuable to the system and to the readers. Without some attention, not of us would bother posting.

The overal economy of Steem may include precisely an attention market and attention "economics", but that doesn't make Steem as a whole "an" attention economy.

If you want to suggest this particular part, and thus in extension Steem as a whole, is a part of the overall "attention economy", including potentially many other platforms that work in a wide range of ways but utilize attention in some manner, that's fine. But that "economy" still relies on too many other factors (which could be lumped into the so called "attention economics", if we'd really like to do that) to truly generalize the entire market as an "attention economy".

I think Ned has done well using the term "attention economy"/economics many times. But let's not confuse matters by accidentally suggesting that all Steem is about, is immediate attention. Which is what calling it "an attention economy" does.

Happy New Year To Everyone!

I have a write up to release that explains it. But I slipped it into the podcast since it was relevant ;)

Texting this link to my phone so I can listen in the car, can't wait!

Appreciate the useful discussion. Looking forward to the next podcast. Interesting process and nice hearing the positive sights on the horizon.

Great show guys. Please submit this to Itunes there is a link here that says how:

https://create.blubrry.com/manual/podcast-promotion/submit-podcast-to-itunes/

Oh, ok. Will do. I'm not a mac fan :P so I don't know about that side of popularity. Thanks!

Itunes is mostly used by windows users I think - stems back to the popularity of ipods and iphones. The mac side is a minority. It's a mess of an app but it is still the most popular source for podcasts so it is best to get on there.

Probably one of things I would have liked to have brought up, if I was part of the discussion, was the presence of a profile page (similar to a YouTube profile) where someone can create that personal space. Their face to the Steemit world. In that space people can promote their content past and future. They could also promote their vision for the community. It doesn't need to be searched for either. It's just a click of the profile icon and you are there at the central hub of that personality.

Dude, so needed! I've been waiting... scrolling through dozens of posts to find one... is annoying. No searchability... no feature exposure of select content... sigh, but it's beta :) Thanks for the feedback, I'll bring it up next time :D

I think you alluded to it when you spoke of the front end stuff being a greater possibility on busy.org. Steemit being the experimental platform that concentrates on backend stuff.

True, that is part of the whole social media platform that Steemit lacks. It's more for blockchain dev, busy or others will do frontend and community projects, as mentioned in the podcast, if anyone wants to go listen to more ;) hehe

The instant messaging discussion was something that I could relate to. There are times when I wish I could just send someone a private message about some detail or particular that doesn't need to be made public.

Two examples:

  • Contacting a bot about whitelisting
  • Suggesting an author use 4 tags instead of 5, due to a bug.

These don't need to be made public and can interrupt the flow of a conversation when they are made public

IM will greatly impact user interactivity.

Is this related to why there are only so many "layers"/allowed conversation back and forth in the comment section? That stuff really bugs me. Not making it easier to get new people onboard either.

Well it should remove some of that. The think the new roadmap for new feature updates will have this feature as well, increased comment nesting.I forgot about that in the discussion. But I can't confirm... lol
