The Humble dandelion
Most people just look on this plant as a common weed and pull it out as soon as it is seen in the garden.
However, the dandelion is something we should protect as it is a vauable plant - not just for us, but also for most insects, birds and bees.
The young leaves can be harvested and put into a salad and have many health benefits for the body.
The milky juice can be put on to warts - it dries to a brown colour and if put on daily, is said to kill the warts.
The roots can be dried and ground up as a substitute for coffee.
The lovely yellow blooms are valued by the bees as they are rich in nectar and when the flower goes to seed, many birds will eat these.
Many years ago, I had a friend whose parents used to make dandelion wine which I was told was delicious!
The flower has not appeared in this photo yet, but it will be there soon and I shall leave it alone for the bees and birds.

Yes! Dandelion has so many uses, and dandelion wine is my favorite thing next to mead. Thank you for spreading awareness about this beautiful plant, it's not a weed at all but rather a source of food for humans and animals alike :D

I have been wanting to try dandelion wine. I also heard it was really good!
