Making & Breaking Xmas Tree Traditions...

in #steemitbloggers6 years ago (edited)

When Jude was born in 2009 and my mom and I were living together – we started a Xmas tree tradition. When we moved in together, we bought one of those synthetic white trees and we each bought one glass/silver decoration for it… So on our first year, there were only 3 decorations on the tree… one from me, one from my mom and one on Jude’s behalf. We kept up this tradition every year and despite how sparce our tree looked, we knew that one day it would appear anything but!

The last couple of years we have not even put up the xmas tree as we have spent the entire festive season at my dads place in Fisherhaven – but this year, Jude asked to have Xmas at home because he wanted to enjoy it in his own space. The tree we have been using has gotten somewhat long in the tooth and relatively yellowed lol – so this year… even though my mom and I no longer live together, we did collectively decide to do something a little different for Jude’s “Home” Xmas tree. Out the front door of where we live is a long grassy canal stretch which has plenty of pepper trees… so my mom and I cut off a branch and shoved it into one of my wine vases hehe… I am in love with the sheer magnificent and splendid simplicity! It is really gorgeous!!! I don’t think I will EVER use a traditional Xmas tree again!

I need to say.. your Christmas tree is more beautiful than the common.
Thanks for sharing.
Cheers!

I would have to agree with you on that count ;) thank you!

That's super fun, I use to do this with a ficus tree, unfortunately, it died one year. Great idea to get another plant.

I found out recently that in our local area a medium size xmas tree has approx. 5lbs of pesticides on it, when you bring in your home, cray cray not to bum peeps holidays out, but you can ask for no spray and we have a couple companies that go the healthier distance and offer beautiful trees. Happy Holidaze, thanks for sharing...

It looks so pretty. I have one sole decoration in a gum tree branch - I'm on my own for Christmas so it doesn't seem to matter so much. Love alternative Christmas trees, and better for the environment too xx

@jaynie, For sure this Tradition sounds amazing and here i want to say that you've decorated this tree amazingly and one more thing, this tree is really unique one and different from all which we see usually. Hope and wish that you'll going to super enjoy these festive times. Stay blessed. 🙂

Looks fabulous indeed! Our tradition is to have a real tree no matter what, but we don't need to buy any more decorations as we have too many already...

It is beautiful @jaynie.
Peppertrees? Wow, I have never seen one. :)

Absolutely lovely images and story behind the making of your own Christmas Tree tradition Jaynie. Like the saying: From little things, big things grow. I've never been inspired to have and decorate a Christmas Tree. But after seeing your images, something very deep has been stirred within me. I'm actually moved to tears and realize now that I MUST find/make a tree and decorate it this Christmas. ♥︎♥︎⚖️♥︎♥︎
