The director of a Milton Keynes funeral director said in 2020, as the number of calls to his facility increased and he was contacted daily for three weeks, during which time the NHS increased the order by 1,000% to buy the sedative Midazolam, which is used as anesthetic for conscious sedation or addition to general anesthesia.

An entrepreneur who was interviewed by the BBC last year believes that, having worked with the coroner for several years, he had dealt with a corpse many times and never wore protective masks.
