RE: Vlog 18: Giving up on Steemit Posts

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

How's it going @trevonjb ?
You and a few other people are whose videos I saw before joining up myself last week. Since then, I've had to come to the same conclusion. There are so many people here who walked in with such high expectations that they ended up disappointed.

I'm one of them.

I'm a photographer with 18 years experience and TONS of content to post. None of it made very much. In fact, I found that simply replying other people's posts (particularly the more influential big fish) has helped me earn more money than what I've earned with my own stuff. The key is to jump in there and offer some insight or point that others can get down with. In the past 36 hours, I've made over $700 from 2 replies to posts made by whales. My own content made maybe $60-80.
So, I'm flipping my script and only posting when I know something could potentially be hot. Otherwise, my main focus is going to be to try and make conversation. Interact with others, be human to them, let them know I know they're human too.
So far, it's working. Go figure, right? ;-)

I see what you did there....

I understand your thinking on this. It will be interesting to see how it changes the reward system after the hardfork is completed tomorrow.

It works though. lol
There's already an incentive in this place not to be assholes to one another, so intelligent conversation could very well go a long way. Besides, what better place than to make money while making friends? There's no reason we can't get to a point where we start recognizing each other's names...like I did here. The video of yours I saw was you driving in your car, talking about the pennies slowly rising when you get your upvotes.
