Vlog 18: Giving up on Steemit Posts

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

I'm no longer going to play at Steemit's casino. When I post it will not be to try to hit the jackpot anymore. Everyone is writing trying to make money and I'm not playing that game anymore. This is just another place to post my videos and if they earn then cool. If they don't then cool :) Leave a comment below for some upvotes.

I think that is the right attitude. When you do things for love, the money inevitably will follow (sooner or later). People that are posting for money are looking at things backwards IMO. Money is the effect of a fulfilling life and doing this you love, not the cause of it.

Until there is a tip button, it is all just fishing for whales.

A tip button would be a great addition! A one step action to donate STEEM or STEEM Dollars to a particular post or profile.

How's it going @trevonjb ?
You and a few other people are whose videos I saw before joining up myself last week. Since then, I've had to come to the same conclusion. There are so many people here who walked in with such high expectations that they ended up disappointed.

I'm one of them.

I'm a photographer with 18 years experience and TONS of content to post. None of it made very much. In fact, I found that simply replying other people's posts (particularly the more influential big fish) has helped me earn more money than what I've earned with my own stuff. The key is to jump in there and offer some insight or point that others can get down with. In the past 36 hours, I've made over $700 from 2 replies to posts made by whales. My own content made maybe $60-80.
So, I'm flipping my script and only posting when I know something could potentially be hot. Otherwise, my main focus is going to be to try and make conversation. Interact with others, be human to them, let them know I know they're human too.
So far, it's working. Go figure, right? ;-)

I see what you did there....

I understand your thinking on this. It will be interesting to see how it changes the reward system after the hardfork is completed tomorrow.

It works though. lol
There's already an incentive in this place not to be assholes to one another, so intelligent conversation could very well go a long way. Besides, what better place than to make money while making friends? There's no reason we can't get to a point where we start recognizing each other's names...like I did here. The video of yours I saw was you driving in your car, talking about the pennies slowly rising when you get your upvotes.

This is the way content should be produced. Do your own thing, if people like it that's fine. If they don't, that's fine. But at least you've expressed the way you liked.

Can't blame you man

I right there with you Trevon :)

It's pointless chasing the money as it may never come we may aswell enjoy what we're doing and if one day we get lucky then that's fine. keep posting and smiling :)

Never give up. Steemit is an emotional ride (aka social media) Live yours and do you!!

Hi! I really appreciate your perspective. I think the value of content here is in it being organically produced and genuine. Keep posting your insights, I am following!

That's the way to go@trevonjb. Love your vids :)
