How To Grow On Steemit: Find Your Community

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

If you're new to steemit or been here a bit and feeling frustrated joining a community of like minded members is the best way to meet people and get noticed. Here's how:

  1. On the main steemit page you see Topics displayed. These are not just to give a suggestion of descriptions to your post but are forums in their own right. Clicking on them will take you where all posts that have been tagged, doesn't have to be the first one, will appear. At the top the categories of Home New, etc will take to such of each forum. You will find many of the same posters regularly here, get acquainted by upvoting and commenting on their posts, most will respond and might follow you, the more you do so the greater the odds increase they will follow you and read, upvote and comment on your posts. Commenting is the MAIN way to grow here, unless you're one of the fort few to bring a large following with you.

There are also other popular forums not listed in the Topics list, different nationalities such as RU for Russia, filipino-trail and christian-trail which is the main christian forum here, also christianity. Look around and experiment with different tags to find any other, just type in the name after the slash https://steemit.com/home/. If anyone wants to add another that they're active in feel free to leave it below.

One other I want to recommend which is content neutral is whalepower, which is listed in Topics, register there and you'll get a decent sized "whale" vote on your posts.

  1. Join and participate in the Chat room. It has different channels devoted to specific topics, many post here and you can also usually leave links to your posts on them (not sure if all do the one I participate in allows it).

Best wishes! Do the above persevering and your odds of doing well here fast will significantly increase.

Thank you so very much. I am new to Steem-it and social media. In fact when instructions told me to register through my "Reddit" account I did not know what it was. Thought every living thing had Karma. I did soak up information on places like You tube without ever signing up. Then it started to happen that people I came to trust, were being censored for telling the truth. Some recommended that they be followed on Steemit. It was hard to do for me, but I think I love it. To have you be so welcoming and encouraging, is huge. So easy to read and great tips. It is so very appreciated. Hope I can get up to speed enough to pay it forward.

Glad it was helpful, this is a great community with little of the strife that is found on pretty much every other social platform. Yeah youtube is quite biased against certain views, like most places now, something else not found here.. welcome, following you b seeing you around the place :)

Cool. Thanks for the suggestion, bro.
