Do Not Post Shit On Steemit... Seriosuly, You Are Just Wasting Your TimesteemCreated with Sketch.

Spam. I get it. The internet is a loud and busy place. Sometimes you need to vomit a message a few hundreds of times just to get that precious click. But unlike other sites, your views are not as important. In fact, more views can actually be worse if you are posting garbage. What matters on this site is upvotes, especially ones from people with high SP and they will not be upvoting your 50 links to some ICO that no one cares about. No one wants to see you sell some affiliate program and on one wants to upvote anything that is stolen or plagiarized. So what do you do when you click that 'submit a story ' button? Here are a few ideas for anyone to get started.

Photography:

Yeah you are not an expert. So what? You may not going to win the steemitphotochallenge but that doesn't mean you can't take a good picture or your area, or a trip, or a nice sunset. Take your camera or your phone and start clicking. I'm not going to lie, there will be some pretty bad ones. That's okay. That's how you learn. And when you get a couple you like, put them in a post and tell us how you got them. It's a lot better than taking someone else's work.

Writing:

Yes, writing can be daunting. It is easy to stare at a blank page and drive yourself crazy. But you don't need to write the next great novel. There a lot of forms of writing with smaller word counts that work well for a site like steemit. Flash fiction, poetry, short stories. Think of an idea or a character and tell us about them. After a few edits you might like what you read.

Tell Us About You:

Introduce yourself. Tell us about your day. Your job. Your relationships. This is something that is unique to you. It is your perspective. People on steemit like to converse with other real people and people's life stories can do well here. And everyone can talk about themselves. Look at the life category, it is currently number one on the tags and topics.

You Have To Have Hobbies:

Are you a gamer? A Gardner? An avid Reader? Maybe you juggle. You have to have something you are good at or are knowledgeable about. You can write tips. Share a how to video. Write a kick ass article about the 10 movies that made you cry. I'm not ashamed to admit when I cry at a movie. Take a second and think about it. There has to be something you are passionate about that you can write an informed post on.

Give it a chance, the community on steemit is quite supportive. Also don't get frustrated if you put a lot of work in and you don't get a lot of upvotes. This happens. It is part of any online system. But you are better off posting quality and risking someone seeing it, then posting spam and having someone seeing it. That is how steemit works.

Novelists write novels? And I have seen several posts with more length than can be imagined tote up hundreds of dollars, my response was, "You broke the short post mold."

Yeah people are free to write novels on here but this site and others work well with smaller content I think.

Unless a whale thinks you are a hot chick right?

You are right. Resteem for you 🍉🍊🍋🍌

Thank you for the resteem and the random fruit.

Couldn't agree more, a little bit of effort can come a long way

You are assuming the people who spam know what site this is.
Unlikely.

Fair point. I can see people just posting and not doing much research. I guess it is in hopes that when they make no profit they will move on.

I agree wholeheartedly, Steemit has given me a platform to really critique my own photography as I try to post only the best.

That's great, glad you can do what you love, grow as a photographer and make some money from it.

Some great advice. Thanks so much!
