Can We Please Get A Dedicated Page For Contests - Steemit Request

in #steemit7 years ago

Contests on steemit are awesome. They allow new users to make steem, give a direction for posts, let the person run the contest make some steem, and help build a community where everyone is on the same page. It really is a win/win. The problem is you need a lot of steem to run them and give a really good prize. I end up giving away my own money in my contests but I sorta make it back so no complaining. But for people with a lot of steem or accounts that work together, they can make some real big prize contests that can help attract new users.

And there are contests being run now but they are hard to find. You can look at the tab but everything with contest gets put in there. Plus there is no dates or anything so a contest might have already expired. Also they are not filtered so a photo contest is above a writing contest. But wouldn't it be cool if we have a page dedicated to contests. This might happen with communities but for now lets talk about a dedicated page.

It would have to look different then the pages we have now and could include info such as date of contest and prizes. They would be filtered by category and could help people spend their time on this platform. I think it would be a great help to this site, making it more fun and open.

I know I would be entering a few.

What do you think?

Great idea @whatageek. If we have dedicated page, we would not miss the exciting contests. Currently lot of contests are available but we can't follow all of them.

Great idea ,this will surely attract those who steem less and bring many who have only listened about steem....
If something like that happens steemit will rise above many alt coins will make it space in top 10 for sure....

For the betterment of steem organizing contests would be great...

I agree on this, there should be a seperate platform like Dtube and Dlive for contests which will allow people to share their talent and they will get genuine rewards, also the contests will be filtered, sketch contests organised seperately, music contests seperately e.t.c e.t.c
Well see your contest their are about 300-400 entries, I think even more. It will become difficult for you to judge, however if 5,6 persons are judging, the task will become easy and awards will be given to the most talented one.

yeah i agree contests are good way to help new users earn some steem and get to know about this platform, so that it doesn't become boring and they will invite more users to join this platform, this is really great for the steemit community, it will help people grow and earn their daily wages here, nice step taken by @whatageek keep it up and continue helping new comers like me to grow 😊

I agree with you. There's no order per se. You see a topic that interests you, only to rush in and see it's closed.

I fully support this post.......Steem is a good place to work on mixing together and earning a lot of money.......

This is exactly what I talked to a moderator on utopian.io about before they included it.

I was damn pissed at my unfortunate experience.

Most task requests ( contests) expire 7 days after publication, some expire even earlier.

There was no tab nor button to search for those contests so we end up seeing the contest like 2 to 3 days after the publication.

Imagine we now take another 2 to 3 days to submit the contest because it is mostly graphics and web design which may not be a 24hours stuff.

Now after submission, they take 1 to 4 days to review and accept your entry.

So sometimes the contest is already over before your entry is reviewed and sometimes the contest is closed before the set expiration date by the task owner due to one reasons or the other. (so the reply you will get is; "sorry this task has been closed or has expired"

It happen to me twice after spending quality time on the projects.

It was so disheartening.
Thank Goodness they now have a dedicated tab where all task requests can be found easily.

Steemit.com should have that too.
And maybe with better filters like you suggested.

Contests are indeed one of the best way to foster activities on this blockchain

Yes you are correct. It will bring great support to steemit community.

This is really a nice idea. Its very difficult to find contests now because people use the contest tag for post not related to contests. I believe it would be such a nice idea to dedicate a page to contests and design it to look comprehensive. After trying hard and failing to locate the contests through the contest page, i turn to Minnow Support Project. There, a whole channel is dedicated to contests. Though not the perfect thing, it is a reasonable upgrade to what we have on Steemit. So if we could have a contests page, that would be nice.
