Ich habe kürzlich dank @flurgx und @twinner [1] ein cooles neues Feature von Steemit entdeckt und zwar kann man anderen Steemians private Nachrichten senden, die nur der Empfänger lesen kann.

Dazu macht man sich das Überweisungssystem von Steem oder Steem Dollar zunutze, denn bei jeder Überweisung lässt sich ein kleiner Text (Memo) mitsenden. Dieser Text ist normalerweise, so wie das bei Blockchains üblich ist, öffentlich.

Und jetzt kommt das coole Feature. Durch das Voranstellen einer Raute (#) wird der Memo-Text für den Empfänger verschlüsselt und ist dann nur noch für den Empfänger lesbar (p2p-Verschlüsselung). Zum Entschlüsseln muss man übrigens mit dem Masterkey bei steemit.com eingeloggt sein, um die Nachricht zu entschlüsseln, oder davor eine Transaktion mit dem Active Key durchgeführt haben, was ich heute auch noch entdeckt habe.

Schritt für Schritt-Anleitung

1. Auf der Wallet-Seite entweder eine Steem- oder Steem Dollar-Überweisung initiieren (kleinen Pfeil rechts neben dem Betrag anklicken)

2. Transfer wählen

3. Empfänger und Betrag eingeben. Als Betrag empfiehlt sich, die kleinstmögliche Einheit zu verwenden (0.001) außer man möchte natürlich mehr überweisen.

4. Memo-Text mit vorangestellter Raute (#) eingeben. Der besseren Lesbarkeit wegen würde ich nach der Raute auch noch ein Leerzeichen verwenden, also zb "# Diesen Text kann nur der Empfänger lesen".

5. Nochmal alles kontrollieren (vor allem den Empfänger und Betrag) und dann auf Submit klicken

Finde dieses Feature gerade ziemlich cool und auch noch die Tatsache, dass darüber hinaus für die Transaktion selber keine Gebühren anfallen, was auch cool ist.

I have recently discovered a cool new feature of Steemit thanks to @flurgx and @twinner [1]: You can send private messages to other Steemians which only the receiver can read.

This is done by using the transfer system of Steem or Steem Dollar, because it is possible with each transaction to send a small text (memo) with it. However, this text is usually public, which is the way blockchains usually work.

And now comes the cool feature. Prefixing the text with a number/hash symbol (#) encrypts the memo text for the receiver and is then readable by the receiver only (p2p encryption). In order to decrypt the text you either have to be logged in with your masterkey or you must have made a transaction with your Active Key before that, which I found out today.

Step by Step How-To

1. On the Wallet page, make either a Steem or Steem Dollar transaction by clicking on the small arrow next to the amount.

2. Select Transfer

3. Enter the recipient user name and the amount. For the amount I recommend using the smallest possible unit (0.001) unless of course you want to transfer more.

4. Enter the memo text with a number (hash) sign (#) in front of the text. For better readability, I would also use a space after the # symbol, eg "# This text can only be read by the receiver".

5. Check everything (especially the amount and receiving username) and then click Submit

This is a pretty cool feature in my opinion, and also the fact that there are no additional fees for the transaction involved, which is also quite cool.
