Positivity Breeds Positivity? Well maybe - but somethings have to be addressed.

Positivity Breeds Positivity? Maybe!

But do not mix up slimy behaviour with positivity

Hello Steemians of the world! When I started on this platform I was only pushing towards my original claim #bepositive and tried to focus on this a lot! In the last months I was bit careful and sometimes negative. I am now trying to get rid of shit again and ignore certain behaviour and people! To maintain positivity I think it is key to be clear with yourself and that you are ready to ignore / mute people that you feel endanger your positive mindset.

In the past I have bored a lot people with my angle. I still believe in this somehow - but I learned! My usual open minded personality is seeing a lot things that are awesome, I also things I do not like and I try to delete them from my feed.

What I do not like:

  • People positioning themselves as the content police of Steemit by only taking care of their own success
  • People brown-nosing whale asses and people with a lot Power or Influence
  • People claim to do a lot for the community but in reality do only support their own success
  • People complaining of a lack of influence that constantly power down
  • People that only believe their opinion is the right one - not accepting others
  • People ranting as of the point above
  • Stupid people

Sounds negative? Not at all, just analysing a bit - even I was pushing positivity I always had the claim "Be Positive but keep it Real".

No Rant btw

This no rant at all - just a little post about my feelings now. Sure not one of these posts that deserve a higher reward. I am just showing you some of my inner feelings with the points above which are not good for the platform in my point of view. The platform has some great mechanism to fight spammers and scammers which need more support! I hope the next HF will change a bit on that. I am happy to be here, I enjoy content, discussions in certain chats and on some posts. What I will not do moving forward is getting into any arguments below posts. I will not discuss and attack others if I have different opinions. I will avoid heated threads. Most of these discussions are useless and end sometimes in flag wars or broken relations - not my style, not my aim. Not sure how long I can keep that behaviour.

Talking about flags or heated discussion

I was some months ago (maybe still now) in the Top 10 list of most flagged accounts on the platform. A first for me - was kind of proud lol to get into a Top 10 ranking. This was mainly based on one certain idiot (most of the older users know) that took revenge for two flags with his bot army to offer me around 10.000 Flags - was nice to wake up on a Sunday morning to see that lol! I will still flag from time to time certain posts if I feel that way but it really takes a lot before I do that.

I was involved in a lot war discussions and attended there. Flagging in favour of the platform and the "good" users is something we shall do - otherwise we do not get rid of scammers and spammers. However we need to strengthen the institutions that take care of that instead of Steemians personally get into wars and get down voted to Zero if someones hates them with a lot Power behind.

I saw a lot ugly posts, attacks on some of the really good Steemians - that made me sad. Flagging or down voting is a useful tool to make sure the community controls the community against attackers, scammers, spammers etc - it becomes tiring sometimes. I still will try to do both, defend the good, fight against the evil and try to maintain my original positive attitude - and EARN Cash / Crypto / Money too - this is why most are here, people that say the opposite are probably not really honest (BUT - I still Power Up all I earn currently - since over one year!)

I end the feelings now with hope and a smile - Namaste Steemians - let us all try to really work as community and listen to each others - sometimes we may not be right and even we think we should listen to other opinions!

Please forgive any typos in the text, post was written spontaneously without a lot focus on grammar and spelling

This was quite an honest post, rare that you talk this straight, appreciate it a lot!

I believe positivity attracts positivity. It is all about your mindset. What you want to do and what are willing to do?
Believe me no one is there to listen your sad story full of tradegy as compared to full happening story where you are living a very happy life.

First point correct, second point disagree - some people earn a lot morey by posting their tragedies

Thanks alot Uwe, for such surprising and honest words.
I absolutely support this nice list you compiled there.
Kind regards
Jan

You are brave to speak your truth in such uncompromising terms.

When first I came to Steemit I was excited by the possibility of a fair, encouraging and engaged platform.

Several months into my journey I see that Steemit is a microcosm of the world at large populated by good, bad and indifferent individuals.

My concerns pretty much mirror your list above.

Plus ~ what really grinds my gears are the people here who lap up my meaningful comments, upvotes and efforts to engage but never think to visit mine to share the love!

Oh well ~ we are all but human eh.

What do you think about this approach to make flagging more 'normal' here:
Small flags (-0.01) are good to use if you disagree with content, opinions or language; strong flags should be only used if a post/comment is unfair or damages the platform or other users on it, and they should be preceeded by a warning.

Nice approach - not sure how that can implemented. I think people still see a flag as personal attack which is not the case.

No wonder I get along with you so amazingly. You are the one who brought me here but it is your amazing attitude and helping nature which attracted me to try this. And, honesty thing which "piss" you off are the same ones which I don't like to see either. People sometimes don't know how to look in the "mirror" and re-evaluate themselves. They are speaking one thing and in the back doing the complete opposite. Which makes no sense whatsoever to me.

One of them saying how they don't have enough power or influence but they cash out first chance they get. I understand it if you really need the money to cover your life expenses but cashing out just to cash out is pointless on Steemit and you will not get anywhere with it.

The only way to succeed here is to trust the platform and put your money where your mouth is. If you truly believe Steemit has potential to become next big social platform than invest in it. Not only with money, but rather with your time. Meet other people. Create amazing relationships and help others around you be better Steemians. That is how you make this platform more valuable.

Concerning the flagging wars, I just believe they reveal peoples true nature. If you want to find out how somebody is just give them power, and their true personality will come out. Not sure how people doing this don't understand that they will benefit the most by helping others here. The more quality content and users in here, the more the value of SBD and Steam will be. In the end, they are only hurting themselves.

Loved this:

"I still will try to do both, defend the good, fight against the evil and try to maintain my original positive attitude."

You are an awesome guy, my friend, and you deserve every success here on Steemit. You are a prime example of how people with "power" here on Steemit should be.

Sorry for the long comment. Have an amazing day, brother. :)

Toller Post, sehr wahre Worte :-)

at the End this is a community. Like a Gemeinschaft for Beispiel;)

Gregor

Ich hoffe ich komme dazu heute :-)

Coolpost but I think it's a bit sad if you ignore or delete things or people you disagree with. I know you said that in future you wont get into discussion, but this is just my view. I think its a humans personal responsibility to question and debate anything they feel strongly about.
Obviously simply disliking a cookery channel, for instance, cos you're not into cooking is sensible. I was just trying to make a distinction.
Good luck on your positive quest for happiness and be true to yourself fella :-)
By the way, i think youre a very good looking and intelligent man....damn, you said no brown nosing too..i cant delete it, sometimes I hate the blockchain lol ;-)

Discussion / debates can be useful depending on the people talking and their willingness to understand the other discussion attendees. Thanks for the brown nosing, I fell flattered......

Listening is the key, and on this point, I try to always abide by Stephen Covey's 'first aim to understand, THEN aim to be understood' rule.

I'm glad that there are less blunt, stupid and hurtful comments, but people are much too nice due to fear of downvotes. Necessary criticisms to improve oneself and to increase one's own performance in the future, are far too less.

One should be honest and respectful.
