Another Reason Why You Should Post "Quality Posts" (My Rant)
I find myself looking through my "Feed" (of those I follow) to look for something interesting to read. And sometimes I'm amazed at all the "spam" that people are posting. It makes me ask the following questions.
Why Should I Continue Following You?
I have to admit, when I first added people, I was rather new to STEEM and I added people because they added me. I thought, "Well that's a fair trade I suppose." But there's a problem that happens overtime when yo do this. Your STEEMIT Feed gets bogged down with potential garbage. I realized, I'm not adding value to my time when looking through my feed. It just gets cluttered with tons of junk posts. My time is...well...important to me. And if I have to spend more than 5 minutes filtering through the garbage...then I'm probably going to find this Feed feature as useless...unless I do something about this.
How Does This Hurt you?
Well, assuming you're the one posting stuff that is "Spammy", I'm just going to "unfollow" and probably ignore you. As I stated above, I don't want to waste 5 minutes of my time filtering through obvious spammy type posts. And I'd like to think, there are more people who want quality content than those who don't...so others will probably start to unfollow as well.
The other people hurt by these spams are the "good" bloggers who actually have something I may want to read...but I never saw your's because it was hidden around all the spam blogs. They just get lost in the shuffle.
Now, maybe my "unfollowing" of you won't hurt you because you have a huge following of people who like your content...and that's fine. There's a little bit of everything for everyone...but that's just not my taste.
What is Your Motivation?
When I look at your history and see all of your posts are either one "meme" per-post with no other content or a random Youtube video about cartoons, it just looks like you're not putting in any effort. Is this what you want to be known for? If so, that's fine...there's a market for everyone. Is the strategy to pump out lots of these posts in order to make some money?
Personally, my motivation is to put good quality (well, that's my goal at least) and well thought out posts. Yes, I hope they make some money, but I also hope it adds value to your feed as well.
I hope I didn't sound too negative...as I said...it's just me ranting for a bit :-)
Wellsaid
" Spam is a waste of the receivers’ time, and, a waste of the sender’s optimism" :-)
Haha! Very well said!!!
nice man
Thanks, doing some "house cleaning" with my feed this morning. Felt I had to write about this :-S
So true
hopeful the "right people" see this :-)

Quality content is king.
Ain't that the truth
Hi @truth-be-told, I just stopped back to let you know your post was one of my favourite reads and I included it in my Steemit Ramble. You can read what I wrote about your post here.
Thanks for the include! I've already selected a few more good read from your posts. Really wish there was a "channel" type view as well. Because then if I am away for a few days....all the other good posts are hidden away on the bottom of the list.
Oh well..it's still a "beta"
I'm sure i miss a lot of other good posts ... the shear volume of posts makes it hard to keep up
I agree 100%! If there was more quality being added, then that would attract people faster. To put things in perspective, imagine if 90% of the traffic on FB was just extolling the great things about FB... Yeah, I would leave too. I have high hopes for Steem however there is just too much garbage - for example all of the posts about how much Steem will be worth in a year, a month, next week. There is more quality to life than just profit. I say to the posters, if you are interested in profits, getting rich, whatever that is fine just don't be so vocal about it. It makes people that do that look like idiots.
Yeah, I agree. My approach to keeping my feed "clean" is to simply not follow spammers.
I do make one meme posts but they are original. I think it's okay to share any thoughts as long as they are original
That's cool. As I said, there's something for everyone. And I'm glad you only do one per day. One guy, the one who inspired my rant, was doing 5-10 posts (per day) of just memes, a photo of bugs bunny, or YouTube videos of other looney tunes. So when I look at my feed I saw nothing but junk.
Doing one per day is fine. And it looks like you found your market 😉
