SUCCESS ON STEEMIT – THE CONTEST APPROACH

in #steemit7 years ago (edited)

Hello Steamian. Are you a newbie on steemit and you are confused, frustrated, or not motivated by the proceeds (upvotes) that you get from your posts? Maybe you’re not even so new but you have no idea what to write; no topic seems to interest you to write about. You have probably posted articles across different fields or patterns, hoping that someone big will be impressed or the post will get to people that like it and you get huge upvotes, only to eventually get a pay-out less than $1.
There is a way through which you can get this needed motivation, and get ideas on what to write, and in turn get considerably higher upvotes than you’ve been getting if only you will be persistent. The key is to participate in contests.

There are numerous on-going contests on steemit, especially this festive season. Some users have gotten a lot from steemit, and they are giving back to the community; some organize contests to provoke creativity in users; and some do contests for the fun of it. Either way it may be, these contests bring rewards for winners, and sometimes, all contestants. None of these contests or challenges is too big to surmount and you have nothing to lose by participating. Success is always repelled with lots of compromises, but the dogged will always succeed.

The Major Benefits of participating in contests

  • It opens up your posts (or comments) to people that are really interested in it and might not see it if you put it only on your blog. If for example, you enjoy creating memes or gifs and you have been doing that on your blog without an encouraging audience in your followers, participating in a meme challenge or contest reveals your work to users who are interested in memes or gifs.

If your work is good enough, you could get huge upvotes or winning rewards, or in some cases, both.

  • It attracts more followers. People definitely appreciate good work. If you present impressive work in contests, it attracts more users to view your blog and follow you.

The more followers you get, the more people your posts get to, and the more upvotes you are likely to get.

  • Another thing that contests do for you is to help you fit into a niche and expand your knowledge. You have probably been fumbling, writing articles not well understood by you or not well researched. The urge to win a contest will drive you to find out and make inputs that are as accurate as possible. Reading through other people’s comments or posts in the contest also widens your knowledge on the topic of discussion. In the process of doing this, you are likely to discover an area of strength in writing. For example, you may be capable of writing great poems but you may never discover it until you take part in a Poetry Contest and you get commendations for your work.

It is necessary to note at this point that this post is not an assurance that you will win contests. It is a competition; some will win while some will have to try next time. Either you win or not, you get some benefits. You learn new things and you get upvotes for posts and comments made in reference to the contest. With persistence and quality research, you will be able to win some contests. This will be multiple benefits for you.

To get to see contests that are available on the steemit platform at a particular time, click on the Steemit logo, which takes you to your feeds. Click on tags and scroll down and choose Contest. This will display various on-going contests. Check out the ones you can participate in and go ahead. Remember, it is not always about winning. Participation is the important thing. Then…Do Not Spam
For an head start, I recommend that you go through this post by @artz, Steemit Contest Compilation. The post contains up to thirty (30) contests, most still on-going at the moment.
I also recommend that you follow this contest Steemshorts #2 by @adsactly. I benefited from Steemshorts #1 and I am hoping to benefit more. You should do too.

It is people who have made something from the steemit community that can organize giveaways. This post is challenging new users to look out for such people and take the advantage.

It's nice you are organizing giveaways. kudos to you.

I guess contests are the way forward then.
