The voting changes are slated to go in tomorrow's hard fork. But the flip out on voting was because it kills engagement and concentrates rewards.
Ahh, good to know! I've been behind on my reading for the last day or two.
Not arguing, just curious as I'm still learning...I can see where it could impact engagement having fewer votes to pass around (especially for those without the slider bar yet,) but I would have thought it would help reduce reward concentration by limiting the returns a bot would earn over a manual curator. With more people using their rshares/5 full votes, wouldn't this dilute the effect or portioning the daily 'prize pool' from a vote of the largest user?
I'm still wrapping my head around it all and the effects we can expect.
Bots already have the slider built in. They already HAVE to pass in a percentage. All this change does is turn 100% into 500% and make that the default.
The only reason for the change is to reduce the amount of time someone has to spend curating to get their full curation award. However that's also known as user engagement.
Ah, I think I follow. So with one default vote now being 5x as powerful as before, the concentration will occur due to people just making the 5 big votes a day versus spreading the 40 votes around?
(The lack of slider bar was solely in reference to users less than that 310ish SP threshold. Not so much bots)

I was super quiet on this week's episode. Fun nonetheless, I was just tired. We shot that wedding on Saturday and I was spent through all of yesterday.
