ANY so-called digital token on COINMARKETCAP isnt a cryptocurrency

in #steemit7 years ago

There are 2 important things I want to share today.

  1. Steemit is poised to become the number 1 blogging platform on the planet and will soon surpass the likes of Medium, Blogger, WordPress and others. As for why this COULD happen and has more than a strong chance of happening, you can check the 1st comment on this post to a very useful article by @jerrybanfield

  2. As I mentioned earlier, NOT all cryptocurrency listed on coinmarketcap are ACTUALLY cryptocurrencies. You will notice that MORE than three-fourth of the coins listed over there are simply digital tokens that can be traded with bitcoin or Ethereum. A REAL cryptocurrency MUST have ITS OWN working blockchain technology . People often argue about bitcoin being hacked from exchanges. The safest place of storing bitcoin is THE bitcoin Blockchain itself where bitcoin CANNOT be hacked as one will have a private key or a 12 -word security system. Wallets like Lykke Corp Electrum and Mycelium are safe places to store ones bitcoin as storing them here ensures that your bitcoin are ACTUALLY stored on the bitcoin blockchain. A TRUE cryptocurrency is ALWAYS stored in its OWN blockchain. It must also have a cryptographic algorithm working for it which ensures encryption. Otherwise any so-called digital token isnt a crypto.

I think we need to stop calling them "cryptocurrency" the term is very confusing to those not in the community. Cryptotechnologies is a better term or Cryptoplatforms maybe?

I guess simply digital assets/tokens would work

Thanks for sharing useful information but next time one image on top also. it looks good on top and every point to explain with images.

Thanks for the suggestion. Will keep it in mind :)
