Strategies for a Successful Steemit Experience -- Techniques that Lead to a Following Part 2

In the last experiment, I tried up-voting and commenting on posts by Steemit users with a reputation of 50 or higher. This technique of interactivity with the Steemit community was handsomely rewarded with 16 new followers.

Now for this experiment, I went to the "New" section once again, I scrolled down to where the Steemit posts where about an hour old or newer. I began by up-voting and commenting on any Steemit post no matter what the Reputation score of the user, as long as the post had 3 comments or more. If it did, I would then proceed to up-vote the article as well as leave a comment.

This technique was not as successful at increasing followers. I gained only 4 new followers using these techniques. Yet I received over 20 replies to the comments that I left in those Steemit posts. My voting power only went down to about 73.5%, so I could have still up-voted and commented a lot more more with the possibility of gaining more than just 4 followers. On a brighter side note, I did receive well over 20 replies, all which I up-voted. That is probably the most interaction I have had with others here on Steemit.

Any questions or comments Please let me know.

Thank you,

Interesting strategy.. most people don't like to give away their little secrets. Im assuming the accounts with 50+ rep are more engaged in the platform? Sounds like a big time commitment - but a good one!

I believe that Steemit users with higher reps are more engaged, but hopefully that is not keeping others from participating. And I don't think these to be secrets but rather helpful strategies that will enhance all Steemit user experience. Thanks for commenting @rgeddes
full steem ahead!

It seems like most new users don't have the patience for the Steemit learning curve - strategical posts like this (if read and followed) are extremely helpful. Thanks for the contribution.

you are right about the learning curve @rgeddes

As a newbie I find that kind of post very useful. Even though the theory of how steemit work is fairly clear it is not obvious to get a feeling of the impact of posting and commenting on the numbers of new followers you get. Initially I though that posting would be more important but it looks like I am getting some followers from comments too.

@erlik Yes, posting will gain a following but I think commenting and curating (up-voting) is more important in the beginning. I think it helps the community in getting to know you and trust you. And once that happens, then it gets much easier. But the most important is consistency. Anyhow, thanks and Cheers.

Thank you for sharing.

I really don't look at 50 or more reps. I read what I like and I comment. :)

Just like I am doing right now.

While hoping someone clicks on my profile and checks my blog?

Well, that would be an added bonus, anyway! :)

Thanks for the comment and the support @sidwrites

Funny, you made me look at your rep now.

can't un-look

well I guess rep scores are important, it is supposed to keep plagiarizers and others trying to game the system on check by lowering their scores while raising the rep scores of those that follow the rules.

Thank you! Honest YET stupid question: how to get this score higher? I see mine is at 56. Swear, never copied an article. Never will. :)

As to gaming the system, well, new here and only learning.

@sidwrites Your score is good. If it was 25 or lower then that would be bad. As long as you post your own unique stuff you will be fine. If you use picture, make sure they are Labeled for re-use, or give credit to the source.

The more you post, and the more up-votes and followers, the higher your rep will go. Just give it time. I have been on here almost 1 year, so just be consistent. You will do well.

Thank you! That's a great point. I wish I could easily find the source of the image.

Busting my balls out to write good stuff. I don't know how any of those curation / witness thing works. All I know is to contribute and engage... and to do it consistently. :)

Sometimes one year feels like a long wait. Then again, I have spent some of my time without counting it.

Following you now to learn more. Wish you nothing but success and hope to have a good convo with you!

Thanks for the wonderful insights!

Next goal: 60 reps! (Still don't know how). But we will eventually get there... with time, I suppose! :)

Glad to see that some of this info. is useful to others on Steemit. and Big thanks for the follow and the support.
