SteemTV has an important question for you...

Why is our content getting upvotes when the upvoters are clearly not taking the time to watch our films?

We began this channel with one intention in mind: to share with you a variety of decentralised media content on the Steem blockchain, always retaining a high standard of production. Designed to tackle the subjects you will never see in mainstream media, whilst remaining faithful to the Steemit platform, refusing to interact with comments anywhere but here.

We are confused however because since launching this channel we have received over 900 upvotes and numerous words of encouragement, yet upon releasing our first trailer last week to give a teaser for our upcoming documentary The Energy Deception, we can see that it has today been viewed by a total of 58 people. Most of who would were personal friends of ours and not through this site.

So, the number of film views does not in any way correlate with the number of upvotes.

Why do you think this could be?

We suspect this is due to the obvious financial incentive to dedicate our time on this platform to curation. And some of this curation is no doubt done in a speedy manner which does not permit one to actually read the full article or watch the film that is being presented. No my friends, the upvote is given because the post looks like the kind of post that could fly. That knowledge alone is enough for the curator to hit the upvote button and move on to the next. Leaving the films unwatched and the articles unread.

But isn't Steemit more than just a curation channel?

One would hope!

So what can we do about this?

Tough one. Curation is a big aspect of this platform and one that we particularly enjoy ourselves. So there is little left to say but this:

Give more time to your curation ritual and give more respect to the writers of the articles. Many of them put hours of work into each one and in the case of films, sometimes even weeks. All they ask of you is a few moments of your time to read or watch their content before making your upvote decision. In this way, information is being shared as it should be, forever on the Steem blockchain. And Steemit becomes (as it so clearly should be!) more than just a tool for making money through curation.

So, please watch the trailer now!

It is only a short trailer at this stage but will give you a clear taste of what is to come. No small amount of time went into creating this documentary for you in which we explore why decentralised Solar Power has not yet reached the people.

The currency generated through these posts will fund our ongoing work.

If the currency is not generated, the work will not happen. Bills must to be paid!

Thank you for your time and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on solving this problem.

Yes, support content creators, not porn or sports pick-betting.

Thank you for your support.

Steem behaves like a cloud as they form, move and meander freely. Others will do as they do, every way is a way. Be as the Sun my friend, constant, infinitely illuminating and simply shine. The message is the same brother, now and now and now.. wholeness.

Beautiful words as ever. Like music to the ears :) Thank you.

Watched and re-esteemed...centralization of energy leaves us wide open to terrorism, government, and corporate control...

You are so right. And only through education can we free ourselves.

Why is our content getting upvotes when the upvoters are clearly not taking the time to watch our films?

Personally, I support what you do and upvote whenever I see your posts, because I think what you are doing adds a lot of value to the platform. I will be honest though I don't have the time to fully consume the content. Hopefully by getting more upvotes though it increases the value of your posts and boosts your reputation score - which should both contribute to you gaining a larger following over time.

Also, there are lot of "voting trails". When someone who actively curates, a lot of times they will get a 'bot following' - where everything they vote on gets upvoted automatically by a trail of bots.

The community is still fairly small. The number of 'actual humans' that will consume your content is not the same as what you would get from posting a viral video on say YouTube (yet). For now, I would mainly focus on building a following and making more connections. I know that there are a lot of people on the site who appreciate the type of content that you are providing.

Many thanks for your comment. Interesting to learn about the 'bot following'. We will continue as you say, building the following (of humans!) and posting great films. And only time will tell what the future holds...

Good luck! You continue to have my support :)

I watched your trailer before up voting. I am interested in learning more about Solar Power, and using it to power at least some of my house.

Thanks for giving us your respect by doing that. You won't be disappointed by what we have in store for you.

Absolutely great. This is an important message to get out there. I would offer another reason for upvotes without watching . I could be because the post looks like it deserves an upvote for the kind of material it is, or the reputation of the blogger or something else along those line....but the person is simply not finding the time. I have found myself in this situation. I am trying hard to read and digest as much as I can but there is just so much excellent content being published now that it's difficult to keep up. I've given up thinking about limiting my votes and what my vote power is at.....I just want to commend, support, encourage, reward as many people as possible.

We wholeheartedly agree with your approach. It's not easy to find the time to take in all that we would like, but try we must! Thanks for your support.

Upvoted and follow steemtv :-)

Many thanks. Enjoy the ride my friend. Followed back.

Thank you too. Steem on :-)

A very good introduction! I will follow you, and I'm excited to see the rest of this.

Thanks for your comment. And I am sure you will enjoy the rest...

You tell 'em.

Ask the bot nannies and trail brokers :) I read EVERY article I vote for, and in 50% of the cases I give a comment on it to give some reasons for my decision. It´s called respect! I love your post and its message, and that´s why I upvoted and resteemed it. Go ahead with your quality content and don´t take everything for granted!

Respect is indeed the key word here my friend. Many thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoy episode 1 coming in the next few days.
