Promoting Quality Content

 
We have made some rather big changes to the @steeming-hot free resteem bot.
Our goal with this bot is to promote much better content, and we have been monitoring our bot checking what's getting promoted.
We noticed some posts were getting resteemed just recently, which were one or two sentences with a bunch of images.
This is not really the content we want to be promoting, we would like to promote content which the user has at least gone to some trouble to write.
We would like people to see a resteem from us and know that the user has written something original, that they has sat down and taken some time to write.

So let's run through what we have updated.

The main thing we have updated is how long the article body is.
We decided to change this to posts with more than 1000 characters.

We also noticed that things like images and links are included as characters, so we have modified the code to exclude images, links and html from the post character count.
The 1000 min character limit applies to top upvoters of our winner posts too.

Another thing we changed is the limit for the max age of a post, which is now 4 days or less old.

Along with that major update, we also uncovered a couple of small bugs which we squashed. They are now like the bugs on my motorbike helmet :)

@steeming-hot bot will go through our followers list once per day. It will select 3 followers, and pick the top upvoter from the previous days winner post who meet the eligibility criteria which is as follows:
💩 You must be a follower of ours.
Your reputation must be above 25 (Recent service update).
💩 Your post must at least have a minimum of 1000 characters (Links, Images and HTMl will be excluded)(Recent service update).
💩 Your post must be less than 4 days old(Recent service update).
💩 Your post can't have already been resteemed by us.
💩 Your post must not have been identified by @cheetah as possible plagiarism.
