Would it be possible to later fold this into an extension - hooking into the steemconnect / custom_json (?) API, maybe focusing on the busy.org interface?
Yes, I believe there are some people looking at creating a custom interface cloned from busy, that will actually replace the Steemit UI front end. The new UI will have a tab that filters out boosted posts.
Once that is done, then this blog will not have much need, other than support the new interface.
I believe this is a very likely future development.
