Dear Potential Newbies

in #steemit6 years ago

The reason I'm using the term "potential" is because this post is intended to people who have completed their account registration process but have not yet received any confirmation.

I have chatted with few people on Steemit chat and also some on Discord. I see this kind of posts (the above screenshot) on different other websites, from people who have signed up but their accounts are not created yet.

I know this whole process of signing up and then the long wait is a frustrating feelings. You want to join this community as fast as possible because of this amazing system, where everyone is rewarded for their efforts, and also the technology which is censorship free and decentralized. This is the best place to share your contents, especially for people revolutionaries and rebels who wants to raise their voice against corruption and all kinds to unfair treatment by the so called "authorities"

Technology made it possible for people all around the world to communicate so easily, and share contents such as written message, photos, audios, videos etc. And many have raised their voices against corruption, but then the authority have managed to find a way to "delete" anything from the internet which they don't approve. They can easily disable your accounts or spy on you. But then, a better technology arrived, the blockchain. And Steemit.com is a social media network which runs on the Steem blockchain. Once you make a post on Steemit, no one can delete your post or ban your account, but well there is still an option to flag your or anybody's contents, this feature is here to fight against spam. But even if a content is flagged, it's not deleted.

Now the thing I want to discuss, which is the main reason for this post is "why this delay in account verification?"

You see, everything here is directly related to money. By money I mean the Steem token. Also known as Steem currency. And it was takes Steem currency to create a new account. Basically money is needed to create new accounts. I joined Steemit last year, at that time it didn't take much time to get my own account to get activated. The average number of new sign up was still low back then compared to now. These days Steemit is getting all the attention it deserves and more then tens of thousand new people are signing up daily.

So then you might ask who is paying for all these accounts. Basically the company called Steemit Inc is funding majority of the money, or let's just say Steem for the account creations. So back then the new users were fairly low, and it was easier for them to sponsor our account creation fees.

But now you see, as new signups are growing very rapidly, the funding for the account creation is somehow getting shorter for Steemit Inc. And that's why they can only pay for a certain number of new accounts on a daily basis. And that's why many new accounts, perhaps your account which you just signed up now could take a couple of days, or even weeks to get activated.

I know this is like a barriers to entry. And many whales are also helping to fund for the creation of these new accounts, I would also like to use this chance to other whales to put some contributions for new account creation.

There is also a way to fund your own account. You can easily fund your account by spending some of your bitcoin or altcoin to pay for your account and your account will be created within a couple of minutes or few hours. As the screenshot at the beginning mentions about those third parties for instant activation.

If you are a veteran in the blogging communities, it would be easy for you to make money. If you are an experience writer, professional photographer, or have been making videos or tutorials who can easily attract followers then it will be very easy for you to make hundreds or thousands of dollars everyday. If you are a newbie, you can still learn as you give time and effort to Steemit, though it might be a bit hard to get through the learning curve. I'm a total newbie, before Steemit I have not created much contents but since joining Steemit, I have been learning through practice, and at present I have around $1000 dollars in my wallet and in the past I have withdrawn around $1000 dollars and have spend it already. It took me more than 6 months to reach this position, on the other hand professional bloggers who have been blogging for years start earning more than $100 everyday just after joining here, and there are also people who earns $1000 from just one post. So now you tell me if it's worth joining Steemit or not. The rest I leave it to you and your judgement.

Thank you for reading.

I could be mistaken but I believe it is the Steem Witnesses that fund the accounts for new users. It's done though delegation and then reclaimed as the new users start earning rewards for them selves.

I will do further research on that and if you are correct then I will edit that part on this blog.. thanks for your information
