Please, whales, DON'T upvote my posts!

in #steemit7 years ago

I'm straightforward, I know, but I'm really asking to the whales don't upvote my posts!

You can think I'm crazy, but I run to explain why I'm asking it.

When I write my (original) posts and I choose my (original) pics, I work on it thinking about my followers.

"Will they appreciate what I'm writing?"

"Will they appreciate this/that artwork?"

"Is my English understandable?"(this is the most frequently question ^_^)

I always try to put into my posts a bit of my life and a bit of my smile and I'm really happy when I read the comments of my followers or other users, I love to interact with them. I'm happy to know that there are more nice people here with the same passion/energy/thoughts/motivation as me.

I'm really proud when I see that 100 people upvoted my post and my payout is 50 cents. Sure, I'm only a human and my heart races if I see that the payout is more then 1-2 dollars.

So, why I'm asking "don't upvote" me to the whales?

Simply because I want to be free to share my contents for the only pleasure to do it and only for a few cents of payout (only one cent is always more than I can earn writing out of here)!

Here in Italy we have an idiom "Meglio pochi, ma buoni" (literally means "It's better few, but good") and we use it to say that having few, but good money is better then having more money made by bad act or something wrong. So, for my ego (not for my wallet ^_^) is better to earn a few money from the upvote of users that love my contents than getting more money because someone with a very big wallet upvotes me randomly, so I can think that I'm a good content creator and I can stay motivated to write here something good.

In the same way, I don't love to be downvoted for reasons that I don't know or I can't understand (trust me, I tried to understand the reasons reading some post pros&cons, but behind every pros&cons word there are facts in contrast to the theories).

You may say that I can write for my pleasure and few cents (few, but good) even if someone downvote me, but (I repeat) I'm only a human and when I see a single downvote without comments from the downvoter I ask to myself if I've done something wrong, if someone think that I'm a plagiarist or similar, if my content hurts someone. When I realize that it's for the flags war/strategy/game,  it's really frustrating and demotivating. My problems, I know.

I'm a positive person and I have a satisfactory life out of here, so I can take a time to paint a new artwork and after come back in "positive & motivated" mood. Steem on!

However, looking around I see that the flags are used from some whales when other whales upvoted the post. No problems, I think it's a simple solution if the whale don't upvote my post, so when I see a consistent (for me) payout I can stay quiet and without anxiety. ^_^

Believe me, there are some whales that I really appreciate for their work and the help in the community, I also appreciate some whales that explain civilly  why they use flags (I can agree or not with them, but I always appreciate a civilly comparison) and I'm really proud to say that one of these whales upvoted some of my post (and I know that he upvoted me not randomly!)

My own "I wanna be" is to have followers that appreciate my contents and to grow up my interections with them, not to catch the whales.

My plan for my future on steemit is to earn 3,33 dollars x 3 contents x 1 day, I'm working for this objective and I think it's a great plan ^_^

So, I think we all agree that random flags create some issues and they aren't the better solution to solve other problems, but I think these problems will be fix sooner, because:

less issues + motivated users = the growth of steemit

I'm wrong? ;)

Steem on!

See ya soon

Your posts are well presented, and have quality content... will they be able to resist?

Thanks so much, I tried to write it using my "positive way" to represent thoughts. I think steemit is a cozy community with or without these "flags" ^_^

If I was a whale, I would still upvote this ;)!

Thanks, but I really appreciate your upvote even if you aren't a whale ^_^ lol

Well said.

I am here too, not for a quick buck but because I get so much more out Steemit than money. I have started writing and blogging in the last few months, something which I have never done before, and I am reading so much more and its all thanks to Steemit. I am enjoying my time here and I look forward to reading some more of your posts.

The same for me, @eroche ! I have a blog out of here and I curated my post (only in Italian) for years before the growth of Facebook. I stopped to improve my italian blog because I was demotivated (the people slowly was leaving the blogger platform ). When I've started to blogging in steemit, something lit up again in my mind! As you, I'm enjoyng my time here and I really love to interact with people. I'm a pratical woman and I think that the money is the reason to start blogging here, but the community is the reason to stay here ^_^

Very true words.

I enjoyed your posts so far. I like your plan and goals.

Thanks, @snooway ! I think it's a good plan and I'm working hard on it ^_

Hey Silvia, you are one of my favorite authors. Your English is just fine, I know Italians have a hard time with it.
The thing is lots of people come here hoping for a shortcut to get rich so they stick up to whales. I guess the only reason they come here is for the whale upvotes. No wonder people get so furstrated when they get flagged or evaluate the posts only on the amount of payouts.
And there are the people like you and so many others who are here for the interaction and the original content. Actually if it there were no people like you Steemit, it would surly fall. It is you and authors like yourself that makes the platform valuable. We need more appealing content like yours.
I would love to see whales start creating original content.

Thanks so much for your words, @rossenpavlov ! Yes, there are more people here that really enjoy this platform creating original content and good interactions, I think they are a great resources for the growth of Steemit and to attract more new users . Good contents and interactions between authors and readers make strong not only our own blog, but also the entire community . Believe me, I understand the frustation after one of these flags , especially if the authors have always worked "honestly" here and especially if the "incriminated" payout is under 30, but I can easily change my frustation in a positive mood because I have the right "tools" to do it. Not every good authors have the same tools to contrast their frustation (because their past experiences, their own character or other reasons), so I hope that this post help someone to think that the real great source of steemit is the entire community and we can built our "wallet" step by step, slowly but strongly.

I enjoy your posts... and it shows that you create for the enjoyment of creation. I feel a similar way-- I am here to create content because I enjoy doing so... I am less interested in getting bogged down in the "local politics," although I DO like the idea that we all get to have a voice here... unlike other places where the management just does what it wants and we can either "like it, or not."

I think it's extraordinary that we all get to have a voice here, it's one of the things that I like in the community. We can have different opinions or thoughts, but everyone here has the oppottunity to have a voice. As you wrote, this post is for the enjoyment of creation and "to put out" something from my mind, using my usual positive way ;) I have a trick to quiet my emotions before to write: I use my hubby to test my mood :D lol

I'm completely new but I think I understand where you are coming from and it seem so a really healthy way of o approach this. Thanks for writing :)

thanks to you for the comment ^_^
