Power Down Steemit = Traitor! ╚═| ~ ಠ ₒ ಠ ~ |═╝

A few days ago I posted this video (check it out on Steemit here) and I received this comment:

I'd like to address this comment in 3 points, because even though the comment is rather small there's a lot here to unpack.

1. Powering Down = Lack of Faith in Steemit

This implies that the only people who have faith in Steemit are powering up.

What a limited view.

People manage their funds in all sorts of ways based on their own needs and desires. I didn't power down because I lost faith in Steemit -- I powered down because I had to survive and it was the only resource I had left.

Which leads right into my second, and most important, point.

2. Using Steem to Satisfy Responsibilities Gives the Network REAL VALUE

I was able to use Steem/SBD to cover my expenses and get me through coding school for several months.

This goes straight to the heart of what gives money value. And in this case, I was able to use the Steemit system to support myself and my family, pay my bills, and satisfy my responsibilities.

What this does is it gives Steemit a real-world measure of value.

People might ask: What is Steem actually worth? Well, for me it is worth an education, a new career, and the ability to provide for myself and my family for several months when I had no other options.

Anyone who says that I've "stopped having faith" in Steemit simply doesn't know enough about me.

3. Holding Votes Hostage

Seriously, people: we need to quit this.

I don't care how big of a whale you might be -- your vote isn't that precious.

I don't beg for votes. I don't do follow-4-follow. I don't spam content for votes.

I use Steemit because it's my favorite platform for sharing valuable content, whether that be blog articles, musings, videos, or whatever I can't say with only 240 characters.

If you don't want to vote for my stuff, please don't. While I appreciate any support I get, I do not negotiate with upvote-terrorists LOL

What do you think?

Have you ever had comments like this? What do you think about this kind of thing?

Let me know in the comments.

Real world shit happens and people need to ask questions before they assume the worse.

That is very true. It surprises me how often people are quick to judge these days. It's almost like people's nerves are more sensitive than they used to be. :/

I appreciate your honesty. Being I'm fairly new here, I have noticed a some of what you mentioned in your blog such as people begging for votes or follows. I don't beg for votes either, I comment what I honestly think and feel on the content I've read and hope to interact with the person on the other side of the screen. I think if more people would use the site as a means to actually interact with one another instead of just to make money then people would be less on edge, and less greedy. However, we both know some people will continue to do things as they always have regardless of the platform. As far as you powering down, I think that's your choice and right to do what you feel best in regards to your account. I am glad to hear you are making enough to pay bills, and support your family. In that case, of course you are going to do what you deem is in your best interests, and I can't say I blame you one bit. I applaud you on your successes here and hope that more people can find some value in what you bring to the table as I have.

The vote begging is really out of control.

I got onto Steemit very early, and back in the old-days it wasn't like this so much. It reminded me more of the Internet back in the 90s before Facebook and YouTube and Google. It was nice, people talked to each other like people, shared with each other, traded.

Now, there are accounts everywhere just trying to make a quick buck and selling their dignity in the process. You see comments that look like this:

This is a great post. I love content of this post. This post is great for content and for following.

It makes no sense and is obviously a robo-reply.

In summation: I've been muting more accounts in the last few months than I did the entire year before lol

BE AUTHENTIC! BE NORMAL! DON'T BEG FOR VOTES OR FOLLOWERS!
ԅ( ͒ ۝ ͒ )ᕤ

I don't know how anyone could have much dignity left writing comments such as the example you gave in your response. I have noticed a few of those while reading content on the platform and I wondered how they expect to generate a following with the poor grammar!

I think using honesty is always the policy regardless if it's online or in person so when I comment anyone can be rest assured whatever I write is coming from the heart! With that being said, I look forward to reading more of your content and wish you a great weekend!

Thanks. I love hearing examples of individuals using benefits of Steemit to improve their lives. I think demonstrating how steemit helps provide for your education and family adds greater value than showing a larger value in your wallet.

It's my pleasure to share.

It has also been my vision that platforms like Steemit would allow people to earn livings posting quality content and making wise investments. That's the future economy, IMHO. :D

If I can use Steem to pay for groceries, bills, and school -- which I have -- then it has a very real value. Without that it's just a speculative asset.

I Do not negotiate with up vote terrorists😂 That's fuckin gold😂

Thanks. I thought it was pretty good, too. :)
