Why do you think there are so many socialists and self proclaimed altruists on Steemit?

in #steemit8 years ago (edited)

Is it because they believe it's free money?

Or don't they realize this is capitalism at it's best? Content and value creates incentive to pay you. Sure it's still rough in the edges and not perfect. But even the self proclaimed altruists who complain about rich people and their cars, take photos of those cars and make money on it.

Why do you think Steemit has attracted so many social justice warriors, vegans, hippies and communists? The cryptoworld was mostly anarchist. Yes yes, I understand that a lot of youngsters misunderstand and call themselves anarchists while cheering on more government. But I mean, REAL anarchists, Laissez faire free market capitalists. Wasn't that what it was all about?

I have nothing against vegans or hippies by the way :D But I do have something against social justice warriors and communists.

I think its no surprise that socialists and communists want to profit off of echo champers. While Steemit is not a uniform echo chamber as a whole, it does allow people to profit off of their opinions. Historically, socialism hasn't been very good at profiting from much else.

Makes sense. :) I hope us anarchist and capitalists and libertarians can come togheter on steemit.

Because weak people will pretend to be liberals to get liberal whale votes and mostly its just the same liberal whales upvoting each other while most people think their content is crap. GOLOS!

Whaat! To the gulag with you! Herecy! :)

The problem is that we all filter life though a lense that make us feel good and justifies our preconceived ideas.

I see Steemit as a market place, where you are rewarded for creating value. But that is just my humble opinion!

Oh I agree! And its great with diversity on steemit. I just honestly wonder why there seems to be so many non-anarcists. Perhaps we really arent that many :)

hippies and communists are always seeking alternatives when trying to escape the control of governments. steemit is good solution

Uhm..communists trying to escape governments? You do realize that communists WANT huge governments? That's what communism is all about - government controlling everything. Are you perhaps thinking of something else? I don't quite follow :)

True communism is anarchocommunism and dictates that there should be no system, no government and no hierarchies.

That's the actual definition, however impossible to obtain, as the first step is to announce some people as authorities, so they can "share" the wealth by stealing it from the rest of the community. It simply doesn't make sense.

assuming that not all communists are happy with their governments :/

Because it is community, man. All the money belongs to the people, dude. You just got to let the good vibes flow and you'll receive yours, bro.

Wooh..right on brah. That's some profound shit maaaaahn. Gimme that bong. Wooooah! Fucking governments man. We need communism. That makes so much sense.

Hehe. Thanks. Surely there must be some truth to that. Not that I praise my own work that much, but I see a lot of VERY articulate, smart and profound people here who go unnoticed - while others post a picture and earns 500$. So yes, there is the element of being very early, and having some luck. BUT, there is also the fact that we're still very early phase, and if you have patience I'm sure there will be a lot of re-arrangments of who has the most impact. I'm not sure if the "pewdiepie" of Steemit is here yet, if you know what I mean :)

Yes, there is a great deal of good content that is passed over for sensationalism. But, all it shows me is that you will find sheeple in every community, especially ones where people think they can jump in and make an easy buck. HF19 should go some way to addressing the imbalance, but there is little you can do to fix sheeple...
Steemit is still in the early adopter phase, so the golden age is still yet to dawn. Steem on! =)

I agree! Steem on buddy :) I'm following!

Cheers! Following back.

I also believed this is capitalism, free market, and thus good for freedom. But I cannot help relating the digital coins with fractional reserve. Of course it is without the government, which is definitely a great improvement. But still generating out of thin air something that people pay for...

BTW, great picture

Well..I´m not sure if this is sustainable. A currency or money is a means of exchange. So if you want to buy meat from me, and I want to get rid of that meat, but you have no other commodity to offer me that i need right now, or maybe ever, I can accept something else that I think hold value. For example gold - which we decided was precious. Later we accept paper-money. In this platform we accept Steem for information that we enjoy. But there are incentives to give other people our steem. We do it to build relationships that might benefit us later on, and we also get rewarded to reward others. I honestly can't say I can make much sense of it ..because it just doesn't apply to the "old world". But there is so much going on on a philosopical and technological level right now with money and currency, so in my opinion all the "rules" are changing. Who knows..

There might be an attempt to change the "rules", but the establishment is going to try its hardest to prevent that from happening.

Netcents and VISA Team up to Offer Bitcoin Purchases via Credit Card
What began as an anarchic project that sought to provide an autonomous alternative to the dominance of neoliberal financial institutions is increasingly being used a tool for profit generation by the very entities that bitcoin originally sought to circumvent.
