Is Steemit worth the effort for the 99 percent? Do we need a Steemit tax system?

in #steemit7 years ago

I know I'm a total noobie here, but the more I look into Steemit the more unlikely it seems for most people to make money out of it. It's very similar to Youtube in that way, only a lucky few manage to gain popularity regardless of content, and of course once you get popular, you are then more likely to get promoted. It's like the 1 percenters in real life, they create a monopoly, and Steemit strikes me as a similar thing.

Steemit like Youtube is not always rewarding based on content, it often has to do with who gets in first, or pure luck. It reminds me of the first past the post system used in the UK general election.

Now I know that this is how it works in real life out there on the street too, but isn't cryptocurrency about creating wealth from nothing. Isn't there a better way to help everyone on Steemit make money and creating wealth for all. Maybe like a very small tax on the highest Steemit earners to get the noobs started.

A social benefits tax / dole?

That's funny, your personal tag line "Destroying Cultural Marxism" does not agree with the idea of the tax you just suggested.

All of us started out as noobs, some earlier than others, and put the work in. Steemit as of yesterday just implemented changes to benefit the noobs, on Steemit, known as minnows. So put the work in, and you will get the rewards.

Why would we even call if TAX - Its only a word used by a central government. Aside from the use of the word TAX, I do agree leveling the playing field is important for new users and I believe the recent hard fork has just done that. We'll all have a much better idea over the next few weeks to see how it's working out for everyone.

I am not a top earner, ( you can check my profile), but I do not agree with taxing the top people. They were the early starters, who took the risk of investing time in something that might go nowhere. Sure the rules were different then, but as @altcointrends said, we now have Hard Fork 19, and so the payouts are distributed more evenly.

I agree with the thoughts that @anarchony expresses in his comment.

I have seen a flood of newcomers asking for handouts or complaining when they haven't even really tried, creating content that people value and building an audience. Steemit is not money for nothing. Put the work in you will get the rewards.

No, this is not like the real world where the 1% profit from the rape and pillage of the environment an community. In the world of Steemit, the value is created by your own creative efforts.

Get busy!!!

I'm definitely no Socialist. I agree with Fechaugger. My point about "taxing" the top earners on here a very tiny amount is in the hope of giving noobies the means to give more back in to Steemit while at the same time giving them some hope. I understand that a cryptocurrency needs to grow naturally but I'm very anxious to see Steem and other similar platforms do very well. Any thorn in the side of the globalists and I'm all for it and I think Steemit is a great idea, I've had enough of the Google/Twitter/Facebook monopolies.

That same 99% don't read the stuff one of those 99% writes.. if people don't read your stuff they won't rate it, it's what the herd follows where the money goes to.
You might make superb content, but if no one reads it it has no value.
Getting the exposure of your high quality content followed by the following you gain from that, is the hardest work, sure if you were one of the first that would've been easier, if you already had a big following on a different platform it would be even easier.

I'm no one to speak, cause i haven't put high quality content on steemit at all and certainly have no following or made big money, but i'm not a writer at all. my guess is don't think too much about the money keep putting out great content consistently and slowly but surely something might come of it.

But since you sound like a statist/socialist there's probably a lot of educative content around on steemit for you to read.

Because of the way steemit works. The person with the most SP has the most influence, and earns new Steam Power more quickly.

At a certain point the whales who saved all of their SP, will have a really big influence. As the price of steem grows. It become's increasingly more diffficult to 'buy in'.

So as the platform matures, the newbies will have increasingly difficulty in earning their own SP. Making it very hard for them to stay competitive.
