Now we can BLING up our BANNERS! The arrival of the COVER IMAGE URL ๐
The days of the generic-looking blue banner are over!!!
There has been a change to the code of our beloved matrix and finally we can bling up our banners to instantly personalise the feeling of our blog page!
Why is this a game changer?
The first and most obvious thing is that it will completely individualise the feel of each person's page, giving us the ability to use this banner space as way of telling people something more about WHO WE ARE in one glance!
Also, it moves us away from that very familiar Facebook blue colour.
How to get this done!
Those who are interested in taking instant advantage of this exciting new tool, you must now find or make yourself a picture which fits the aspect ratio of the current blue bar. Long and skinny!
Then hit your settings tab and you will see a new box - COVER IMAGE URL
Upload the image in the same way you uploaded your profile picture. You can see above that I used imgur to create my profile pic link one year ago (before the days of the drag & drop feature) and you can also see the link I created moments ago to insert my new banner. This time without having to upload the image using imgur!
I do believe this new tool will further expand the growth of Steemit, moving us one step closer to the kind of social media platform EVERYONE wants to be a part of :)

Not only is this an opportunity for you to get creative and tell us a little about yourself with your banner, but this is also an opportunity for those who have the skills to create personalised banners to do so in exchange for Steem or SBD.
Steemshop
As the founder of the @steemshop account (set up 4 months ago) I encourage you to make use of this service by advertising your skill to the community with a simple advert, using #steemshop as one of your five tags.
If your post qualifies as an advert for a product or service, with your asking price listed in Steem or SBD, a member of my team will upvote & resteem you into the main @steemshop account where you will be seen by a bunch more people, increasing your chances of a sale.
As you can see I have not yet had a chance to bling up the Steemshop banner, but you can rest assured it is coming...

Thanks! Yes, I've taken my foot off the gas recently with the @steemshop account but still have a real belief in it. I've been so busy training newcomers it's hard enough to find the time to post in my own account, let alone focus on the development of the marketplace.
Thankfully, there is a growing Steemit community in Bali now and soon I will have a dedicated team around me :)
