During the First Sudanese war of 1983 two soldiers were among the peace keeping convoy sent to the conflict. While Nsubuga was married with a kid, Bakaki was single.
They were sent to the toughest and the most brutal part of the war, where the two soldiers almost lost their lives. Suddenly Nsubuga got missing.
Bakaki and his team went searching for him. The search became futile after several hours. They then assumed that Nsubuga was dead.

Bakaki got home finally after several weeks in the war-front and in formed Nsubuga's wife about her husband death.
“How can I cope in life without Nsubuga?” she burst into tears and cried.
She mourned him for weeks then after got along. However Bakaki kept visiting her and enticing her with gifts. They soon fell in love.Bakaki hated Nsubuga's son Kiyimba because he saw him as an obstacle to his love affair with his friend's wife. Kiyimba hated seeing Bakaki come close to his mother, let alone making love with her.
"Perhaps Bakaki delibrately killed my father in war in order to have you."Kiyimba always told his mother.
Bakaki could not tolerate Kiyimba's aggressive and irritable character towards him so poisoned the poor boy.
Nsubuga was not killed in the war but was captured by one of the Sudanese warlords and taken to a far away camp in the jungle. They were fed with watery half cooked beans and a loaf of bread daily. Many captives died of malnutrition and diseases in the first six months of his arrival.
Fortunately Nsubuga and some other clever captives who he met there escaped from the camp, and found their ways in the jungle. Some weeks later Nsubuga was on his way home, so he called by a soothsayer who told him that there is danger in his home, that he needed to be careful with his wife.
Bakaki and Nsubuga's wife were shocked when they heard about his coming home. They both made a plan to kill him so that they would go on with their love affair.
Finally Nsubuga arrived home after four years in prison camp. He broke into tears when he learnt about his son's death. Mean while Bakaki hid somewhere in the apartment listening to every conversation between Nsubuga and his wife.
Shamim,Nsubuga's wife soon served him a poisoned food and drink as planned by the two lovers.
In order to find out if the soothsayer's prophesy was true Nsubuga pretended to be dead from the poisoned food after he took a portion of the food and hid it somewhere.
“ He is dead. The poison worked." Shamim whispered to Bakaki who sneaked out of his hidding place.
“Let club him to death to be sure." Bakaki suggested.
“No need. He is dead already.” Shamim acertained.

Then they walked towards Nsubuga was lying in order to pull him from the chair but to their surprise Nsubuga woke up and the two lovers flee in haste out of the room. They were crushed by a speedy car as they were about o cross the road in haste.
