One of them,Roka, was so mean that he used the broom to sweep off the foot marks of Jazmine as she walked out of his house with her daughter, even in tears.
Roka was a very desperate man that could have whatever he so desired no matter what. The villagers feared him, because he equally had some diabolic means of getting things done for himself. His wives did not come in – between him and whatever he was so determined to have. Otherwise, he may even harm them.
It was rumoured that his first wife, Samara, was killed by him, because she hated his way of life and how he desperately intimidated other men in the community who did not have as much as he did.

He ordered them around by giving them peanuts and most of them whose wives were beautiful; he eliminated, just to take over their wives.
Samara was said to have died from a strange sickness that did not even last up to one week and within that period, Roka was unable to bring any money, not even for the mundane things for the sick woman. It was obvious he wanted her out of his way, because of the way she confronted him over his evil deeds.
His other wives seemed to have learnt their hard lessons from Nma and none of them could look him in his face to tell him how evil he was, despite the fact that some of them did not like it, especially Leila, his last wife out of seven, and six alive.
Jazmine almost cried her eyes out as her husband was carried to his graveside. Her tears were majorly over the fact that she could not help him when he needed her help the most.
Within a few days after the burial. Jazmine took ill, which only lasted for few hours before she also joined her husband. In her own case, there was no one to even run around for her, since Nattat was only seven years old and did not know what to do other than to cry.
Jazmine’s burial did not take time because there was no need to keep her longer since her husband was no more and they did not have anything to entertain the guests. The villagers gathered and laid her to rest, while Nattat cried without any consolation.

Question
Why was Roka feared in the village?
