It was for her school fees that her father went to see Dan and returned half- dead. The feeling kept hitting Rahyana to a point that she gave thought to Vinie’s proposal and when she discussed it with Mélissa, the little girl accepted on the basis that she would be able to continue her education which was highly threatened by lack of fund.
On the agreed day, Vinie invited her friend, Tévine and she made promises to take care Mélissa in school and also train her in fashion design.
She got was rather disheartening.

“so you think you can only come to me when you have problems and the little problem I need you to solve for me, you have refused. Get out from my office before I do something stupid”, Dan shouted and as Rahyana tried to leave, one of the chief’s security officers who liked Rahyana for her that Vinie had been visiting Dan for some time.

“Why, what for?” Rahyana asked in surprise.
“Ah ah, are you surprised? Vinie na oga girl friend na”, replied the man.
Rahyana left almost defeated. Her heartbeat became faster than usual, she had no one else to run to.
Her family was entirely against her decision to marry Fripe whom they all saw as a drunk, in the first place, but what they did not see was how happy he made Rahyana feel, and for that singular reason, she had been determined to live with him, even against her family’s wishes. Unfortunately, his untimely demise had broken that bond she once shared with him.
After few years, Rahyana had exhausted her patience over the search for her daughter and Becky. Her family memebers also supported when it was obvious that Mélissa was missing, but their help did not do so much. They all suggested to Rahyana to let go of Mélissa and move on with her life, but how possible could that be?
All efforts made to arrest Dan did not solve anything, as the man’s influence led him to even arrest one of Rahyana’s brothers over the matter. Dan had demanded that they provide evidence that made him culpable for both the death of Fripe and that Mélissa’s disappearance and when they could not provide any, Rahyana’s bother was detained until they all ran to Dan's house to beg, before the man was released and since then, nobody wanted to get involved anymore.
One day, Rahyana had gone to see a friend who promised her a job as a cleaner in an office of NAPTIP, a government agency that handled cases of human trafficking. Since Dan had threatened to sue anyone who mentioned his name over Mélissa’s disappearance, Rahyana had kept her pain to herself, but that day in the office,
She overheard them talking about a popular merchant in the city who bught young girls and used them to entertain her customers.
“Please, can I go with you?”

Rahyana screamed out, “My daughter has been missing for years…”
One of the officers at GAHT suggested that Rahyana may be their only way to break into the merchant’s house, in search of her daughter and together they all left and behold, there were about twenty one girls found in the merchant’s house, but Mélissa was not among them.
Rahyana felt highly disappointed, even though the GAHT officers were happy to have released the girls who were held hostage, but as they were all about to leave, Rahyana spotted Vinie walking into the house with Tévine, and as they saw Rahyana, they attempted to run, but were captured by the GAHT officers.
“Where is my daughter?” Rahyana shouted, as she beat them angrily.
“Mélissa was stubborn, so I sold her out to another merchant for rituals”’ Tévine confession.
Rahyana ‘s heart literarily flew away. She fell down and fainted, but by the time she woke up at the hospital, Mélissa was standing beside her and immediately, she stood up.
“What happened, where am i?”
One of the GAHT officers began to narrate to her that Vinie and her friend were arrested and they provided a hint to locate Mélissa where she was sold into slavery, but rather than using her for rituals, she found favour with them and they trained her in school.
“Mummy. I am now a lawyer,” said Mélissa, “ and I am happy to inform you of my willingness to fight everyone that has inflicted pain on you, including the man who killed my father.”
Dan was later arrested as Vinie indicated him as the one behind Mélissa’s kidnap and also for the murder of Fripe. Mélissa represented her mother as her lawyer and Dan was found guilty of the murder of Fripe and was jailed, together with Vinie and Tévine.
Mélissa finally was employed by GAHT, as their counsel and she became one of the best in her time.
