Although Bakary ensured that no one engaged in open fight in his house, as he even bought his two wives equal amount of things each time he went to the market and they both shared the days they met with him in his personal chamber, which was in – between the two huts he built for the two wives, however, there was always a cold war between Mamaka and Barkisu, and the reason was never farfetched.
One day, as Mamaka was cutting some palm fronds, which she wanted to use to spread her local cooking material on the sun to dry them, she mistakenly cut herself and her blood flowed out profusely.

She almost collapsed before gathering some strength to run home to inform her husband. She only managed to use her wrapper to cover the spot so that she did not lose so much blood.

To her surprise, she met Barkisu and her children as she returned and despite her groans, they acted like they did not notice her.
She cried out for her husband, but Bakary was already at the village council where they deliberated on who was to be crowned that season.
